Has anyone done a signing like this?

I meet someone and go over an application for a Seller's Permit. The client gives me a copy of their driver's license and then I take the application to the Department of Revenue to be filed. I then fax a copy of permit to company. No notarizations. I print one page (application).

I know it has something to do with starting a new business. I've never heard of anything like this. The woman told me to go to Raleigh to the Revenue dept. but I thought she said the woman who is filling out the application lived in Raleigh also. Come to find out she lives over an hour and a half away. Not even in my workable counties. Has anyone done a signing or what ever it is, like this?

Never done this specific thing, but I have done work where no notarization took place, where I was just a disinterested third party (witness), ID'd the participants, signed paperwork and got $75 for the job. This sounds like you'd be basically running an errand for someone (i.e. take app to be filed, fax a copy, print page....).

That's what I thought. I just looked up permits online and you can do it yourself without going through anyone else. Someone must be paying for it and to make sure it's done, the company babysits it through.

People hire others when they don't have time or just would rather have someone do the legwork, the same way people utilize a valet to park their car instead of parking it themselves (and walking). They want the convenience of someone else taking care of it. If everything is legit and you decide to take the job, charge a good fee where you'll be compensated for your time, gas and still make a good profit.

Why question the reason someone's hiring you to do their legwork? If they pay well, decide if it's worth it for you.

Why wouldn't you question someone if they want to hire you to do their legwork?

You never know where your feet may end at or in....

So the next time someone calls you for mobile notary work, you'll question them as to why they didn't go to their local AAA office or UPS store and save the travel fee to have you come to them?

I just got a call today, the company emailed me the filled out application and power of attorney. The guy came by my house to sign the application and power of attorney and then I will take it downtown to the Dept of Revenue. There is a $5.00 fee and I will wait for application to be accepted, I fax it back to the company and mail a copy to the guy. I quoted $75.00 to do this and they accepted.
