Have any of you heard of....
Nationwide Signing Service?
http://www.nationwidesigningservice.net/
Click on the business opportunity link to the left of the page.
A notary called into today and mentioned this company to me (she just happened upon it it though a search for information on becoming a signing agent). She called the number and spoke to the owner (from what she told me he had just purchased the company from another individual) and he is offering you training, management and what was really intriguing was that he was offering you 'exclusive territory' (yeah right) all for the price of of 10,000. This is the minimum per area to get into this what he called great opportunity. She was told that depending on how many areas you choose it could reach 100,000 for all of these exclusive territories. Wonders will never cease. I thought I had heard it all. Just wanted to share....

From their website:
"All of our notaries are certified as mortgage document specialists by the National Notary Association."
This appears to be an attempt at a signing service franchise opportunity. Looks like there are five offices so far.

Well I looked at the site and I am sorely unimpressed. The thing that caught my eye was the following: ____________________________________________________________________________________________________ Exclusive Territory A small upfront fee allows you to claim the “exclusive” territorial rights for your area. As our network grows, our name will be widely recognized and we will be able to capture numerous national accounts. As our network and name grow, so will your annual profit and the value of your area. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________
First I feel like calling the 5 people they have listed (probably relatives) and ask if they have lost their minds Second, just wait until they have to call a non-member to cover a signing. That ought to be good Third, If this market environment continues as many say it will; anyone who actually pays ( I can't imagine it); will be out to kill them.
Some how I can't believe anyone would go for it. But as I say that I am reminded of one of may favorite sayings: Never under-estimate the stupidity and ignorance of the human race.
And lastly could this just be an offshoot of XYZ
Thanks for the C

You are quite welcome Peter!
The notary that told me of this said that she had called one of the so called offices and the notary told her that she hadn't began her business just yet; something about having a baby and couldn't really comment on this service way or the other. The notary whom brought this to my attention also mentioned that some of the offices that she had originally saw had been taken off.

LOL! LOL! LOL! Yuk! Yuk! Yuk!
This person is crasy if he thinks that notaries will pay that much for a listing that we can get someplace else for practically free and in most cases free.
LOL! More power to him and I am sorry for the stupid ones who will go for it! Really!

Just a different variation of an endless theme
I use a bunch of grand rhetoric and hyperbole, you give me money up front for a big fat bottle of snake oil, and then it's too late before you realize I haven't really given you a thing. I'm always amazed at the utter stupidity of some people, and I have zero sympathy for any dolt that falls for this kind of stuff.
