I promised I would post
the results of my experience with Speedy Closings. I took a job from them the first week of February. Mat, the scheduler was hesitant about my fee and said he needed to speak with Frank. I heard Frank in the background. I told Mat, that due to Speedy Closings ratings on several forums, that I must insist my policy of full fee, no matter the outcome, as well as being paid net 30 and not one day longer.
Frank agreed to my terms and he even called me himself to make sure that I knew that if I did the job, I would be paid within 2 weeks. I told him I appreciated the phone call. IN his keeping his word, I promised I would post my experience with his company. He said his business is important to him and things are getting better for everyone concerned.
Later on the occasion came about that the TC needed to speak to me regarding an eNotarization. This is not legal in the state of TN nor will it ever be according to the SOS. As it turns out, it was an eSIGN not eNotarization. But as things unfolded, the borrower only having dial up net connection, that I had to d/l and print another 60 pages. The TC said she would compensate me for it and added x dollars to my fee. She said she would email the info to Speedy Closings. I asked to be cc'd on that email.
A little while later, Frank called me and told me what had transpired and he would add the additional fee to my fee.
And my check reflected that new amount. I am satisfied that Frank kept his word, and will continue to work with the NSA's to develop a better working relationship.
Just wanted to let all know.

I have never had a problem being paid by them. Maybe I am lucky but I like working with them.

Re: I have worked with Speedy
Hi Joan,
It seems that Frank truly is trying to "clean up" his company's reputation. if you go to any of the forums, either here or notary beware, many many posts regarding issues with them.
I was very honest with Mat and Frank about what I had read regarding their company. I just did not want to get burned. I went on instinct after talking to them both, and took the job. Knowing that I may very well be in for collection problems. BUT Frank made good on his word. And I will work for him again.
Hope your business is picking up.

Or...
He reads the forum, knew you were going to report back, and figured it would be in his best interest to pay you. Just an alternative hypothesis.

Re: Or...
Good morning Al,
I hope he DOES read the forum. I hope that the bad reputation that his company has had in the past was a wake up call to him to treat his NSAs better. It can only make his company more reputable.
That goes for any company. I don't think there is one NSA on this forum that will not bend over backwards to work with a company who is honest and open about issues they may face. I have read too many posts from some of the best, most respected NSA here on this forum. And I know that working with a company has made them the best and most respected NSAs.
It also means that any company that cheats, lies and downright steals from any NSA cannot hide from this forum either. Those same best, most respected NSAs carry a lot of weight in the industry and any SS that doesn't respect that fact will eventually suffer the consequences. And if Frank does read the forum, and acts accordingly then I respect Frank for making a good business decision by keeping his word. He KEPT his WORD to me and I will not hesitate to work for him again simply because he earned it.
I hope business is picking up for you. It has a little bit here in TN.

Re: Or...
Tannis, A search on NotRot shows there are only 3 notaries in your area. Any smart SS or TC would know they better pay you as promised or they would take the risk of loosing you and then being unable to find a closer in your neck of the woods in the future. On the other hand if an area is saturated with closers then if they loose one due to non or very slow payment they move on to the next one on the list. I am sorry if I sound skeptical but I do believe notaries in areas with a scarcity of notaries will be treated better because they are a precious commodity. You, Tannis, are in the drivers seat

Not entirely true Frenchie
An SA in my local area will travel to Tannis's area for a mere $200 (that was prior to the meltdown, she's probably down to $150 now).

Re: Or...
I've taken a chance on companies that have had temporary issues and have been honest about trying to straighten things out and I've had no regrets. Maybe it just comes from experience, but I've never had a problem sniffing out the con artists from those with legitimate issues.
I'm very fortunate to say that business has been good, and I'm glad to hear it's picking up for you. It sounds like the cream is rising to the top.
