Not everyone on this board is your enemy...some of us think you're okay.

"some of us think you're okay."
Yeah, but there are a lot fewer people thinking that today than there were a week ago.
He's acting like a big crybaby victim, it's nauseating.

Well…It’s still a free country. You are free to think (or post) what you may. Tony is in this business….And this business sucks right now! For all of us. He however is really in between a rock and a hard place. All the lenders, and ALL the title companies are struggling, and ALL want to lower the notary fees (Yeah! I KNOW! But THEY don’t! They think lower fees (to the notary) will make then more competitive…WRONG!! What’s IMPORTANT in a service business is SERVICE!!!) He is trying to keep his eroding base of customers, and notaries happy so he can stay in business. This is almost impossible in today’s market. PLUS he has to compete with the DEADBEATS! That pay the notaries NOTHING! They keep the entire fee for themselves. How can he actually PAY his notaries, all his expenses, and make a small profit with that kind of competition? He can’t! So.. In my opinion he was trying to put forth a web site showing these deadbeat, or out of business SS’s, so those of us here would not be suckered into accepting jobs from them. Therefore getting rid of them as his competition, because if no one works for a SS they are history. This information would also save us a lot of grief. I applaud his motives, if not his actions. I have talked with him, I believe him, and I’d work for him anytime.

Nobody is chastising him for the website he created. They're chastising him because he blatantly lied about it, then lied about his reasons for lying about it in the first place, then gave a half assed non apology, then threw a hissy fit because people called him on his BS.
We know he hasn't had any problems as a signing service. That doesn't give him a free ride to be a lying jerk on the board and not get called on it.

I seldom read this board anymore- I just check
in only to research a company or hiring entity. I love what Notary Rotary offers, Harry's done a great job with this site. I will always be a member. But sadly there are major bashers and bashing that goes on here, that simply aren't worth even reading. A few regulars have always set the tone on this board, so sad...... I come on this a.m. to research a new scoundrel that has called me for a signing.......and see Tony being bashed. This is a guy that has always been a stand up guy, paid timely and paid fairly, never took advantage of business situations. I'm not even interested in reading the entire thread. I did get an e-mail notice about Tony's board, I was thrilled to get and joined ASAP. Maybe just maybe the regular bashers on this board can stay off his.... It is amazing to read who's picking on him or anyone, as you always do. Who in their life time has not told a white lie...which one of you is perfect? What joke, get a life, get off this board and lighten up. This man has been wonderful for the notary business. Geesh, go ride someone's else a$$.

I think you're just being a baby. I read the posts about you below and I don't see too many bad things about you.
Do you really think everyone on NotRot is going to approve of you or your ways? Obviously not! Some people will like you, others won't. That's just life .... even if it's in cyberspace.
I think some people take these boards too seriously. I mean come on, if somebody wrote me a message saying I'm fat, I'm not going to ruin my day over it!

I am sure that is true, but I think the issue is the deceptive manner in which you tried to do it. Like I said, you should have just done a broadcast email to let everyone know what you were up to rather than post that you "found" the site. JMHO

Re: I tried to do a good thing for the notaries and this is the
But, when asked if it was his site he flat out denied any connection to the site. Now he cries foul because he was caught being deceptive and we voiced our opinions. Tony seems to be one of the good guys in this business, but if he wants to take his ball and go home over something he caused and got called on the carpet for, then he can go home and pout. As you stated he should have been up front about the whole thing.

I've read the whole soap opera... Here's the cliff notes.
You're a good guy. You put your foot in it. Someone said you put your foot in it. Several said you were a good guy. One said you've put your foot in it before. Another agreed but said you're a good guy any way.
So now you have to decide if you want to clean off your shoe or just wallow in it.
Up to you.

Here are my cliff notes
You were deceptive. You flat out lied. You got busted. Now you want to act like you're a victim.
A simple "I screwed up, I'm sorry" is how a stand up kind of person would have handled this. Instead, you want to be a drama queen about it.

All You Should Have Done...
...in my opinion is accept the criticism of your "less than above board" (& I'm being gracious with those words, Tony!) tactics, apologize, & move on. I don't see a single person responding who desires to see you leave (although I personally have never been a fan of ANY signing service being a part of discussions on the NotRot board, but that's not a direct slap at you). Not accepting responsibility for what you did is your 2nd mistake & you already know what your 1st one was.

Please don't leave. People vented too much, IMHO.
I'm not taking sides here, everyone, I'm just stating my opinion that Tony has always been a good person to work for and that his insight on Notary Rotary has been valuable.
Some people react here, and some people over-react here. I'm not casting aspersions on anyone.

True Colors
I don't know you, never met you. Had a bad experience with you as a loan officer (although as my previous post mentions it was good for whatever notary you were using).
But I won't lose sleep if you never post here again. I never worked for you, nor would I as you are an SS. I hear you paid on time. I also got a few PM's after my previous post about "being glad someone tarnished your image" as you weren't always the guy you appeared to be.
You tried to do a good thing, in a bad way, and tried to capitalize on it......you got caught, and instead of being a man and sucking it up, you cried "NOT FAIR", and blah blah blah.
This is when you're true colors come out. Hell, even Korey back in his "bad" days, admitted his mistake, and guess what, everyone moved on.
True colors come out, when you are caught.....

He was advertising his new site and deceptively told everyone he had nothing to do with it, just found it on the web, rather than just say he did. He was advertising and lying about it.

Tony's Public Apology, c/p'd
PUBLIC APOLOGY I would like to take this opportunity to publicly provide an apology for those who felt I had been deceiving them. I knew the fastest way to get the message out was to use Notary Rotory's web site and also knew that I would be shut down right away if I did not use 'indirect' comments. As always, I am trying to provide the most up to date and NOTARY friendly info possible. Sincerely : Anthony J Negrete, Negrete's Notary Service Inc.

I'm Sorry...
...but this is as close to a Bill Clinton "apology" as I've ever seen since he left office. Read the words: "an apology for those who FELT (my emphasis) I had been deceiving them". A true apology means the person apologizing admits they were wrong to begin with. There's no admission of that here at all. If you're a board member who didn't FEEL deceived then Tony's not apologizing to you. Tony, you still believe you were justified in the initial deception because what you wanted to accomplish with the new site would be a benefit to everyone here. Never mind you were skirting Harry's rules; never mind the misleading postings two days in a row on the board; & finally never mind you publicly denied being the owner when in the end you really were. The ends never justify the means & this is a perfect example. My advice (FWIW); quit trying to "fix it" & admit you were wrong to begin with...PERIOD! Then move on with your professional life.
