OT - Timeshare

I have a timeshare that I want to sell and would appreciate information as to how to go about it. I looked on eBay to see if there is one where mine is to get an idea, and there is not.

This is not an advertisement, I just want some input.

Thanks!

Hi Lynn,

I also have a timeshare that I have been trying to sell, I placed an ad on E-Bay (spent $160) on it and no one bought it. So I have resorted to my local Craigslist. It's free and I have actually sold a week.

Good Luck!

Re: OT - Timeshare - Where are they located?? Actually

I have no specific companies I can recommend but I know that there are Timeshare re-sellers who are quite effective and often the resort at which you bought has a timeshare re-sale program for its owners. Do a Google search on "timeshare re-sales" and a couple of brokers pop up immediately. Be careful and read the listing contract carefully, I seen some contracts that are not beneficial to the seller. Good luck

Plenty of sites to list your timeshare on, just google it. I have one too and I know I'm stuck with it forever. I only hope the yearly fees don't go nuts, a friend bought one years ago his fee started @ 300 year and now its 2700/year and he can't unload his either.

Don't sell it. Give it away. One of my neighbors had the same problem trying to sell his, he tried ebay, resellers and craigslist. I suggested giving it away for the notary transfer fee ($6). He posted it on craigslist and it was gone in one day. It's better to take the loss now and clear your obligations then to have it hanging around your neck (Dave Ramsey 101).

In the right situation, I think this is great advice.

I wonder if one of my friends in Texas is tuned in...she's been trying to figure out how to give hers away.

I have some experience with timeshares and own three.
My suggestion and opinion.
First NEVER pay anyone to sell your timeshare.
Look on ebay to see what they are selling for to get a realistic selling price.
A good website for timeshare owners are: www.tug2.net
Most timeshares sell for less than 20% of what they were originally paid for.
An example - I recently purchased a prime red - Floating - 2 bedroom lock-off in
Gatlinburg, TN that the resort is currently selling for about $8000.00 and I purchased it on ebay for $300.00.

Donate to a charity fundraiser and take the deduction

Find a charity that is doing a big fundraiser, and donate it. Ask your tax cpa how much you can then deduct as a charity donation.

At least you'll fe free of those maintenance fees.
