Renewing CA commission

With some of the talk of the time that it takes to renew a Calif commission, what kind of lee way should a person give themself? 6 months? A year? How far in advance will the state allow the process to begin?

Hi John
I am starting now and mine expires in October to give myself time,I may be wrong but I think I read the class completion is good for a year.Others may tell us more.

Check Notary Public 101 - great 6-hr class! Thanks, Harry!!

Right. I read that it should be done within 1-year to 6-months - no sooner. I just completed the exam this morning for a June expiration, so I hope I'm going to be OK!! They are now advising test results via email, if you choose, although they didn't say we would get them sooner. (It may shave a day or two vs snail mail.) I may try to schedule a live scan fingerprinting appointment before I get the materials they send to accelerate the process, if possible. (The request forms are available from the SOS website.)

I also came here to publicly thank Harry and staff for a great job with their approved 6-hour online class (at a price that can't be beat for Premier members!) They were also fabulous with quick turnaround time for the Proof of Completion certificate. The course itself was very comprehensive and the practice test was tougher than the real thing -- so I felt very well prepared. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!

6 months should give you plenty of time.
