Toner Refills
I know this subject has been posted several times but I searched and searched and couldn't find a straight answer. I use a "compatible replacement" toner for my printer and I get them from ldproducts.com for $36 each. I found out from tonerkits.com that it'll only cost me $6.99 to refill them. But my question is, can you refill toner cartridges that are not OEM? Also, I still have the starter toner that came with my printer. Can I refill that as well? TIA for the help! Have a great weekend.

Carmi - You can refill your starter. It just won't hold as much toner.

I found that after you refill it a couple of times it starts screwing up your drum. I used to refill all of mine, but if you don't know what your're doing it can be a nasty job, plus you can damage your drum (which as you know is much more expensive). These rebuilt toner cartridges we buy have usually had the gears replaced on them because that's what wears out and causes the problems.

I've been refilling mine for years. Not the same cart. of course. I figure about five refills before the built-in drum/roller wears out. I have an HP 2200dse printer.
Every so often I have to break down and buy new/refurbished cartridges. The starter that comes with the printer is the same as boxed OEM except they do not put as much toner in it.

Many people refill their own cartridges - you can buy the tools you need from the places that sell the toner.
