About that perennial problem of copies of ID

I just bought off of ebay -- for $25, including shipping -- a small personal laser copier, a Canon PC150. It's portable, with handle and all. The plan is to keep it in the car, and when the borrowers haven't followed the standard instructions and gotten their licenses copied, I can just haul the portable copier into the house and do the job on the spot.

I don't foresee any pitfalls, but if any arise (can a pitfall rise?), I'll let you know. Should be the answer to one of those recurring, nagging problems, though.

That's why I always, always have my digital camera with me. Beats trying to find a gas station with a copy machine or telling older folks to fax a copy and then telling them how a fax machine works. Works like a charm.

When I was freelancing for magazines, I did my own photography. That, however, was back during the era of optical cameras and beer cans that opened with church keys.

So, about a year ago, I invested $800 in a digital camera. Excellent lens, great optical zoom, fine digital zoom. I just can't figure out how it works. So it's been sitting around now for the better part of that year. The only time in the past six months when I picked it up was today, when I had a carpet steamer in and had to move the camera case. And, now that I think about it, I didn't actually pick up the >>camera,<< only the case.

One of my New Years's resolutions is to learn how to operate it. I'm going to do that as soon as I learn how to make my VCR stop flashing "12," "12," "12." Note that I said my VCR, not my DVD. I gave the DVD to The Platinum Blonde when I couldn't figure out how to get it to power up.

Thanks for those GREAT ideas!

I always have a camera with me too, for field inspections. I can't believe I never thought to take a picture of those stupid IDs. THANKS!!!!

Re: I have used a Digital Camera for years !!

I tried to take a pic of the ID's and always have a problem with to much flash making the ID unreadable.
What settings do I need to use? I have tried to "cover up" the flash but it is still not clear.

I have a scanner & printer in my car so I can scan & print a copy of ID's as well as print a revised HUD if needed. But it would be so much easier to use the camera.

Turn the flash OFF. That's why you are getting the

glare. My Sony has a magnify setting. This setting lets me take real close up shots of the ID's. Works great.
