At a loss on this one! long
Had a company I don't normally work for call me yesterday, and ask when I could close a purchase today. I said at 3:30 but if had to be recorded, I couldn't do it, as I needed to be done by 4:15 to be back in Raleigh. I said I'd gladly give them names of someone in Alamance County that could do the closing. They said no, they'd use me and called back again to say that the sellers agent would record. So I'm told that all I need to do is sign, fax a couple docs back and make sure the agent gets to the ROD before the 4:30 cut off time.
I get there at 3:25, and am told when I get in the door that the HUD is wrong. Seller is angry, the TC and lender had made so many mistakes that this was closing 3 weeks late. Seller says if this doesn't happen now, it's over. Sellers sign, borrowers start to sign, there is a list of docs to fax over, we sign all those docs first, make copies of the DT and deed. Call the TC and tell them that we are faxing docs to them, and agent is running to record as it is 4:20 am told that is fine. At 5:30 I get a call from a nasty woman at TC asking me why I didn't fill in portions of the Deed and type in the correct vesting on the DT. I stated that it was not my job to fill out the portions of the deed that were blank, in NC only an attorney can fill in those portions and it is nothing that is required to be filled in, the deed was nothing I'd ever seen used in this state before. I also explained that why in the world would I even have a clue that the DT needed to have a vesting typed in. These docs were sent overnight to the Agents office, why in the world would the TC not make the changes themselves? No note on anything. In NC, a DT is not required to have a vesting that matches the deed.
I did exactly what I was told to do on the phone when I was scheduled to do the closing. I left the checks with the agents and was also screamed at about that. So I get a call at 7pm from the general counsel of the TC asking me why I haven't faxed over the funding docs. I explained that I faxed over all the docs on the list, and am told that they need the FHA docs to get a funding number. I explained that when I was hired, I explained that I had 7 closings already scheduled and that this closing was not going to interfere with them. I ended up an hour late to my last closing because of this closing, as I would not have been caught up behind a horrible accident if I'd been able to leave on time (borrower was stuck too so it worked out) I explained that I did everything I was told to do, and that I was not dropping everything because they didn't have their act together. It's now after 11, and I still have not received the email telling me what FHA docs they want, as this is a thick FHA package!
The icing on the cake is that they sent a UPS envelope with a label on it. There is a box with an 7:30 drop in Cary, and I was going to drop it in the box. I don't even know what made me look at the label but good thing I did as they had a fed ex label on a UPS envelope! Can you imagine what would have happened if I'd dropped it??!!
I will never work for this company again!

Yes, please tell us who this company is
so we can all avoid doing business with them in the future.
Some companies are just not worth the hassle to work with, no matter what fee they are willing to pay.

My favorite part is:
The Fed Ex label on the UPS package. No wonder they want you to put the vesting on the DOT: none of them are compitent enought to do it!
What a nightmare. You try to do something nice to squeeze someone else in, and suddenly everything is your fault.

Label and Carrier Errors...
I am LOL about the headaches of the wrong label on the wrong carrier, i.e., UPS on a Fed Ex package. We have suffered that pain, either from the mistake of others or our own unpleasant mistake.
Many years ago I learned the painful experience of how folks are always blaming their problems on others. I suppose this is part of the human experience that folks are always quick to blame others without accepting responsibility for their own actions.
I have decided some time ago to allow myself to be any company's punching bag, PROVIDED the pain of the punch does not exceed the long-term benefits derived from the relationship.
EVERYONE has a bad day from time to time. At least that is my paradigm as I have never known anyone to not have a bad day at some point. Blaming others is all part of this business and though I may not enjoy the punch, I do enjoy the rewards that come from serving others.

CHA-CHING !!!
There may be big $$$ money in the "extras" the TC is expecting barring that nothing would be deemed the unlawful practice of law.
TC: Notary, why didn't you type in portions of the Deed? And why didn't you also do this, and that and the other? Don't FedEx the docs, just spend all day in traffic driving them to where we want and after that stop at Starbucks and get us all lattes then drop them off at the TC office 'cause we're thirsty and we work hard to be incompetent.
Notary: Oh, that's not what I'm *commissioned* by my state to do as a Notary. My role is yada, yada, yada, but if you want me to do this, that and the other thing, I will be adding $$$ extra to the notary fees. Just send written confirmation of your requests. Your total for this job will be $750 !!!
These other entities not having their act together could be very profitable for us.
