Drivers License

Just had my first view of the 2008 Issue of a Florida Driver License.

Issued in 2008, all the information and photo is printed from top to bottom in the 3 1/4 inch length.

Guess when we go to renew, we'll be getting this new format.

If I understand correctly, this same design, though issued by each State, is to be the same design basically for all States.

State driver's licenses remain different under REAL ID

From what I've read, the way I think REAL ID affects state driver's licenses may be

-Every state stays different.

-17 states have formally opposed REAL ID in some way. States that don't implement REAL ID can do whatever they want with their licenses.

-States that implement REAL ID but also issue non-REAL ID licenses will have to mark them as not being for federal ID purposes.

-REAL ID licenses will have an optical machine readable area (kind of like the postage stamps you print yourself. This is the only area I know of that will have to look the same on licenses from different states.

-Licenses of those under 50 should comply by 2014, those over 50 by 2017.

-There is an excellent chance the whole scheme will be cancelled.
