GMAIL
I use Gmail as my primary business email account and it's been acting up again. Can't log on or in without my computer going haywire. Are there any other Gmail users experiencing a similar problem? Have you heard of any work-arounds? I'm using a link that I was provided by Gmail's help desk back in November but it isn't working this time. Any input would be appreciated. I'm using my Hotmail and other email accounts in the meantime but chances are I'm missing out on some inspection jobs.

I have gmail and at this time, don't have any problems. I use it as my primary business account too. I know when I had a cheap router connected, and too much stuff on my computer, the pages took forever to load, internet was slow and gmail did mess up. I bought an external hard drive and cleaned a lot of stuff off my computer, bought a much or powerful and better router, now my computer works at optimum performance with no gmail problems, pages loading in split seconds and just overall better experience.

We are in process of switching our email to a different service provider, to include multiple providers in case one should be down. We have been receiving email 4 hours later than the sending time. Multiple providers will give us improved reliability. We receive a heavy volume of large files (just like others) and the workload is too much for our current email provider.

Re: I have
When I log in it goes to a blank page. Then sometimes when I go to view another message I get a notice at the top highlighted in yellow saying that it is going to retry and counts down from 10 seconds to 1. Sometimes it keeps doing it until it goes through and I can finally click on another message. Its been happening the last two days.

Re: I have
Before all of that started one day my gmail page was moving up and down real fast. After that is when the other problems started.

Re: I have
I have email accounts with AOL, Yahoo, & Gmail, all of which are programmed to automatically forward messages to my Blackberry.
I have had the same problems with Gmail as Debbie, but it usually clears up and returns to normal within a few minutes.
Between yesterday and today I have received almost 400 messages forwarded from my AOL account to my Blackberry. These are not new messages, but messages from July and August 2007 that I have saved in my AOL mail. I'm not sure if it's an AOL or a Blackberry issue. Has anyone else had this type of problem?

I love Gmail and I am sorry you are having problems!
The 4 features I really like with Gmail are:
1. The search feature built in within Gmail. I can put in "miller docs" and instantly it will have every Miller email appear in the search window.
2. You can open all pdf attachments at once; I don't mean they all open at one time but you only have to click on each attachment and not see the "earth & back scenario" every time you open each attachment.
3. You can instantly attach documents.
4. Great Junk/Spam filter and you never have to delete any email because it has so much space and of course it's FREE. Google seems to do so many Internet services better than anyone else.
Just my opinion.

FYI: My Internet provider recommended that I unplagued the modem for two minutes every two weeks.

Virus ALERTTTTTTT
"Before all of that started one day my gmail page was moving up and down real fast. After that is when the other problems started."
That's a big red sign (along with any abnormally problems) indicating your computer has been possessed by a Trojan/Worm. Most viruses now don't attack your computer directly because they would be caught by AV/Firewall. There's a good chance that an ad/spyware slip through and it slowly learned all your computer (registry) activities/behaviors.

Re: Everything is back to normal today.
First I ran a spybot scan then a Norton scan and all of the above. Got rid of quite a few things that was recognized as a problem. Hopefully that all worked. As for now though it is working fine. Thanks!!

Thanks for your responses.
This is Day #2 of no GMAIL for me so I've got to take action. Joan, I also love GMAIL. It's been great for me but in the last 2-3 months I've been having sporatic problems.

Same problem as Debbie T.
One of my gmail accounts is also opening to a blank page. Never had this happen before. It will clear up in a minute or so, but this should not be. Up until now I have been totally happy with gmail. Before I started using gmail I was with Bellsouth and had frequent problems opening attachments. Gmail has seemed like a God-send for notaries.

Re: Same problem as Debbie T.
I have been using gmail for a long time and love it but now and then, when I log on I do get a blank page. Usually I leave it alone for a few minutes and when I log back on everything works.

Late to this thread but happy to comment...
GMail was acting goofy for me as all described. It seems to have settled down.
I think they have switched over to a newer version. Look up at the right hand corner and see if you see "Older Version" or "Newer Version". You might try switching between the two to try for better results.
Also, due to Frenchie's suggestion in another thread I find that logging out and back in again will resolve my problems.
