Getting started
I have been a Notary for months now, but I just do not know how to go about making money. Could someone please tell me how?

Maryland requires, among other things, a Title Producers License to do loan signings. It's an expensive endeavor, and there's not a heck of a lot of loan business anywhere right now. Also check your zip code under the "find a notary" tab and get an idea of how much competition you face in your area.
The question arises as to what motivated you to try this business (perhaps a national seminar promising $$$$$)? Doesn't seem like you've done too much research so far to see if it's a viable thing for you, or have any semblance of a business plan. You'll reap what you sow.
You can do general notary work, but likely won't see much more than pin money without extensive marketing.

Go get a job, where an employer can tell you what to do
you wouldn't possibly make it being self-employed since you don't have any idea of how to start a business.

No, it's not 'rough,' it's the flat truth. You can tell who
the readers are. The readers read the first page, then enter the discussion area, then read, and read, and read, and read. They pose appropriate remarks, good questions.
Then there are the non-readers, who catch headlines, hope for the moon, and expect the working world to deliver the goods. They jump into the pool without looking, and either come up smarter and wiser, or sink like stones.

I can't help but to think .....
that this posting along with a few others lately, have been someone signing up with fictitious information just to yank our chains. Too simplistic in nature ...... JMHO. Sorry if I am wrong.

I've been thinking the same thing.
People can't REALLY be this clueless when it comes to their livelihood, can they?

I have experience and connections.
I have averaged 1000 signings a year for the past 7 years. I have sometimes made $5,000 in one month. I am in over 100 data bases. I KNOW how to make money doing this.
I will tell you this: I am also sitting at home today without the phone ringing. I have called many people who I have worked for in the past to remind them about me, and their phones are disconnected. The people who are still picking up their phones have no work for me or anyone else. I dig up old invoices and call the clients since the SS are out of business, and the clients are out of business too. I do invoicing in my free time (which I have tons of), and the people who owe me money have also disconnected their phones.
As long as you hear in the news, "Forclosures at all time highs", "Lenders won't lend", "People losing equity", there is no reason for anyone to call us. (P.S. There are going to be out-of-control foreclosures for the next three years, becuase that was how long they were selling sub-primes, and they all have a 3 year PPP looming in the future.)
Since this downturn, tons of lenders, brokers, title people and signing services have gone out business. I am talking about hundreds of thousands of people across the nation. Many of them have become notaries since they understand loan docs. So we have a glut of notaries, and no work for anyone.
Before the subprime crises, I had done over 100 jobs per month. Last month I did 20. And I did THAT many becuase I am one of the top notaries in my area.
