The information I posted was not intended for Lori or Mistarella...I just threw it in at this point for those newbies that might be here looking for answers...It is a good site for those new to the business.

Send me $10 and I'll 'certify' you in CO! (that is if you can walk and chew gum at the same time)

Darn Les, you beat me to it. Here is a link to a completely "Certifiable Notary Signing Agent Kit," which is good in states other than Colorado, since Les has the market cornered there. Hey, be the first on your block. LOL!

No problemo Les. Happy to reciprocate. We'll send yours out just as soon as we get your "sticker." Matter of fact, we'll send two. Give one to anyone on your block. Wouldn't want you to feel lonely.
Speaking of franchises, you may be interested in picking up on this, since you missed out on the National "Certifiable" franchise. See message #258 on the Leisure forum.

Surely you'll remember this Sylvia. We have those royalties set up on a direct deposit basis. Check your bank statement.

OK, Sylvia, I'll ask the question so that others will hear..

... the punch line. You said "I told you the memory is the second thing to go." I'll bite and say "What's the first thing to go?"

It's not often I get to play the straight man.

LoriC/CA: Here's the straight answer

In case you haven't already guessed, "certification" is a joke on this Forum. The is a National Nonsense Association that offers aforesaid certification as a Notary Signing Agent. Some of us are certified and some aren't. Most people believe that the "certification" isn't worth a dime. Save your money, get _real_ experience, and advertise.

Do _not_ solicit title companies until you've got hundreds of signings under your belt. Yes, literally hundreds. Title companies are not forgiving; your first mistake will be your last.

Good luck!

No one wants to hire the new Notary.....

....PERIOD for a loan signing. It's difficult enough to get someone to give the newbie a chance when they're new. Everybody wants an experienced Notary - and with GOOD reason. What are the chances of even a SS hiring a new Notary to do a loan signing without the additional education beyond the basics? I would say NONE.

I believe there has been a miscommunication regarding certification. It is understood that the veteran Notary who has established years of business relationships doesn't need to run out and get certified. Obviously their experience speaks for itself. HOWEVER, it is not useless or a joke for the new Notary, particularly one with no real estate background or who has never seen a loan doc. They would benefit from the additional loan signing class. The certification just means they took the time to become familiar with the specifics of loan signing. Doing the actual job many times is what gives them the experience.

Years of experience actually doesn't guarantee a job well done. Good character, integrity and ethics are what guarantee a job well done. Plenty of people with years of experience do half-hearted, sloppy work.

There are many companies to choose from to get certified. I don't endorse one over the other.
