I can not tolerate rude SS
I don't post a lot but I had to share my experience from this past Friday. I was hired to do a signing from a company I had not worked with before. I thought I haven't read anything about them I give them a try. I contacted the borrowers and confirmed the appt for Friday at the time that was given to me. The borrower said the time was fine. I received the edocs without any problems, in fact they were early. I thought things are looking good. I get to the borrowers home and ring the doorbell, and no answer. So, I knock on the door and no answer. I thought this is strange there are 2 cars in the driveway. I walk back to my car to call the borrowers. The phone is busy. I wait about 10 minutes and repeat this process. Again no answer and the phone is still busy. I call the SS and was told to hold. They tried calling the borrowers and the line was busy. At this time I was told I could leave and they would pay me a printing and trip fee. I'm thinking ok, well I will see if I can move any of my appts around to early times. This is where is gets weird. I'm on my way to my next appt when I get a call from a supervisor from the SS stating they called the borrowers and got through and were ready to sign. I said I'm sorry I'm on to my next appt. He said why did you leave the borrowers home. I told him I was instructed to and by whom and why I left. He starts yelling at me that this would be the last time I do a closing for his company. At this point I'm mad, I did nothing wrong. I stated to him that he was wrong that this would not be the last signing I do for him because he was so rude he could find himself another notary.

I had one time a SS owner yelled at me at in the phone.
The situation was that one of the borrower did not have proper id, just a green card not enough in CA no neighbors that could serve as credible witnesess so I called this guy and told him the situation and he yelled at me: "You want me to send another notary to sign those docs?" I told them to get another notary and to just pay me my trip and print fee.

This message regards Calnotary: Green Card is issued by the US Immigration and Naturalization Service and it contains a photograph+Identifying number and thumbprint of a person.,etc. I just wonder why you did not accept it. This doc is strong as a pasport. Sorry if I misunderstood you.

Does a green card contain a signature or description? Is it stamped by US Immigration and Naturalization? These are in addition to the photograph and ID number.

You guys out in Cali compare thumbprints when identifying someone?

I don't believe the Permanent Resident cards, issued by the US Citizenship and Immigration Services carry a description of the bearer, and I believe CA notary laws state the identification must have a description of the person.

You are right, Sylvia, they have to have a description. And no, we don't have to compare thumbprints and unless you are a thumbprint expert, that point is moot. I'm pretty sure the green card is not an acceptable form of ID.

No kidding. I was trying a little humor there.

Hi everybody, Sorry, I missed so many answers because came home 10:30 P.M. Believe me or not I called to the SOS, and I was told that I may use Permanent Resident Card and use my own judgement to identify the person. I also called to NNA and one of the representatives told that I may use this document if I notarize Immigration applications. The function of this ID is the same as a pasport. When your cross the border you use a passport or Permanet Resident Card. It is impossible to alter the document (Green Card) because it has a metal detection. I did not specify that we should match thumb print but when we take it for our journal (DEEDS, POA) we protect ourself, if there is a challenge it will help to deter fraudelent activity. Moreover, I questioned several real estate attorneys and wait for their replies. I think it is helpful for each of us to find the right answer. It is important for us to cover our assets. Sorry for being so laborious.

No can do with a Green Card
California Notary Law only always us to use Other State-approved identification card, consisting of any one of the following, provided that it also contains a photograph, description of the person, signature of the person, and an identifying number – (a) A passport issued by a foreign government, provided that it has been stamped by the U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service or the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services; (b) A driver’s license issued by another state or by a Canadian or Mexican public agency authorized to issue drivers’ licenses; (c) An identification card issued by another state; (d) A military identification card with the required photograph, description of the person, signature of the person, and an identifying number. (Some military identification cards do not contain all the required information.); (e) An inmate identification card issued by the California Department of Corrections, if the inmate is in custody.

I basically had the same experience with a well know company. Could not confirm with the borrower however. This particular company has so many different departments though. I was told by scheduling it was re-scheduled for the next day. I received the docs several minutes later and called back and was told delete those docs, I'd be getting new ones. Next day, I get a call and they want to know if loan closed the previous day. I told them no, couldn't get a hold of borrower, and was told it was re-scheduled. She wanted to know who I talked to, I told her, she said she had no notes of the re-schedule and wanted to see my cancellation and new confirmation. Told her I didn't get any which did superised me but it was getting late. She said I was being removed from their list of closers. WHAT? Ok, not exactly the same, but too many cooks in the kitchen I think. When I signed their contract, it stated a strike process, which they didn't honor, but I still don't think I did anything wrong. Did I?

A LONG time ago . . .
I accepted a job for Tuesday. The docs did not show up, so we could not sign on Tuesday. I called in, everthing fine.
Two days later, the docs show up, and I am swamped. I call the SS to say that the borrowers want to sign at a specific time tonight, but I can't do it becuase I have other jobs that night at that time. I said if they get another notary, I will be happy to drop the docs with her or the borrowers. The SS is furious! "Why did you accept the job if you could not do it?! Why did you double book yourself?!" I explained that I accepted the job for Tuesday, and I never would have accepted the job for today. They could not understand and were still upset that I accpeted a job that I could not do. They finally found someone else.
Then I go to my next three jobs, and somehow they all fell through, and I wound up sitting home that night. If I had known, of courrse I would have done that first job. And of course, even though I had done regular work for them, the SS NEVER called me back ever again.
