Re: Southern CA closing statistics 2005 vs. 2007/08

A judge would have to have been on vacation on Pluto for the past 18 months not to know that the sub-prime market has collapsed. Billions of dollars of write downs on losses, lenders that have gone under, been sold. Title companies closing down.

Probably would not be to hard to search the posts on the forums print them out as there have been dozens of posts on how bad business has been. Do some research on Google. Plenty of info out there. ....

From what I’ve read, or heard, this is the normal luncheon agenda for CA judges. Don’t expect any ruling that can have any bearing on what is happening in the real world.

That's what I'm worried about - a judge who is out of touch with reality and does not have the 'common knowledge' that the market is crashing and burning. I was thinking about printing out some threads here but wasn't sure if the content would be admissible. I'm going in without a lawyer so I need my ducks in a row.

Re: Southern CA closing statistics 2005 vs. 2007/08

**I am taking my X to court in order to increase the amount of child support.
I know that he is going to try to convince the judge how much extra I can/should be earning if I was still doing notary work.**

In California it may work differently, but in Texas you'd need to be more worried about what he is making, not what you are making if you have primary custody. If a dad makes $200,000 and has custody and mom makes $15,000 a year and doesn't have primary custody, mom is still going to pay child support and probably be required to keep medical insurance on the child.

So...I'm just saying that I hope you do know how this process works in CA. In Texas you'd need to have filed papers to ask for proof of dad's income.

I just wonder if it is that much different in California...if YOU need to worry about justifying anything about a "what-if" situation.

I agree with Brenda, in addition it's hard to imagine a judge ordering you to work a second job when you have to take care of the little one.

Re: Southern CA closing statistics 2005 vs. 2007/08

I have a good handle on the calculations from http://www.childsup.cahwnet.gov/Resources/CalculateChildSupport/tabid/114/Default.aspx

I was laid off from my full time job in August and have been unemployed since.
I know the judge will impute my wages and I just wanted to have some backup info on the notary biz.
Thanx for your input!
