It's Howdy Doody Time! - You're probably too young...

Howdy Doody was THE show for kids to watch way back when I was little - can't remember the exact years it was on, but sometime in the early '50 when TV was a new experience. I remember that there was only one family in the whole neighborhood who had a TV, a floor model (no such thing as tabletop TVs back then) with a tiny (by today's standards) screen. Every afternoon all the neighborhood kids would drift over to that house, and the mom would let us all crowd into her living room to watch The Howdy Doody Show. Ahhhh, memories.

Ummmm, sorry, but it's not considered a compliment...

when someone compares you to Howdy Doody, it's not a compliment. Howdy Doody was a wooden puppet. Just be glad the person didn't call you Mortimer! (for Mortimer Snerd, Howdy's wooden puppet buddy)
You could probably find some old clips of the show on UTube or by Googling for info.
