Notary fees in Virgina

What are the normal fees charged for notarizing documents such as loan documents, etc and mileage? I am new to this, can you give me an idea what others charge?

Oh Pleeeaase! I didn't know that censorship was so popular her guys and gals. The girls in my area are not getting alot. I'm lucky to get an offer for $75 with email docs in my area. And unless you live in the boon-docks and there aren't any notaries around for 50 miles, good luck on getting a phone call. Most title companies have the notaries that they like to use and with the market the way it is, they are sticking with what/who they know to get the job done right the first time. Smile

Re: Notary fees in Virgina = $5 per notarial act

If you are printing a loan package plus borrower's copy, traveling to signer's location, supervising the signing of the entire package, notarizing where required, facilitating shipping the executed docs back to the client (using their FedEx or UPS account #) then you are doing much more than notarizing a document and may charge accordingly for your other services. I charge $125 for overnight docs and $150 for e-docs - all inclusive. But be mindful that business is painfully slow right now.

Also keep in mind that in VA, a notary must be CRESPA certified to facilitate a loan signing where funds are handled. If the borrower must bring $$ to the table, he/she must send it to the title company separately on their own (you can give them the FedEx or UPS shipping info and account #). If the notary is CRESPA certified, he/she can collect the funds and return them with the executed loan docs.

Terri, a great post to start with is #120985. Click on the orange search button and plug in the number. It is a part of an entire thread with excellent information and wisdom from the experienced Notaries who have great advice. I've learned tons from reading that thread and I know you will too. Welcome to this forum and good luck!
