OT...Charlene and Bertha and Me
I must apologize...several (like 7) months ago after posting about issues regarding subdivision map processing and notary acknowledgements on mylar maps...I sort of picked up my baseball bat and walked home, due to what I perceived as attacks by notarieson this forum that didn't know WTF they were talking about.
I do post about 'real life' at the title company that I work at in CA...and it's up for grabs as to whether or not we are right or wrong...but it is just the way it is. The responses on NR were not encouraging, to say the least, when I decided to quit. Y'all don't get what really happens? Fine...just fine. You are all up to your own devices.
In the interim, I received several personal messages in my NR mailbox that I completely ignored..... I figured they were the know-it-alls that attacked me and since they were notaries? They knew more than me...of course.... so I just quit. Quit. No more Notary Rotary. Y'all can just get along with without any Title Input. Raspberries to ya!
I finally checked that same Inbox (tonight) and found that it contained 'thank you's' from notaries that appreciated said input. Wow, that made me feel really bad and pretty stupid for my cranky attitude.
So...thanks to Charlene and Bertha. You guys were so nice, and if I can help, hey - I'm here.
Bottom line? I miss you all and intend to drop in more often.
A happy and healty and prosperous 2008 to all Independent Notaries. Thanks to you all and I hope things turn around soon for everyone.
We're in this together!

Glad to "see" ya
I've wondered where you were hiding... Since you're back, I'll make you feel right at home and ask a question! If a DOT has a misspelled name (Street or owner) CAN it be recorded? Everytime this has happened at a signing I've done, it has been a redraw. I've assumed it has to be correct. I've been told (by an LO) that it doesn't, but LO's don't always know that much.....

Re: Glad to "see" ya
Honestly, it depends on the lender and the extremity of the mis-spelled name...some TC's (title officers) will help escrow out in correcting "typo's".
Yes,it can record, but it usually means the TC interceded to make the documents perfect. It SHOULD BE correct. If not, they normally need a good paper trail...but they will always do what's best for the customer and Escrow. The customer always has the final word in this.
Down to a "gnat's ass"...yes it has to be redrawn. But in the hands of a good TC, with the reassurance of a good lender? Not a problem.
LO's don't know $hit. My humble opinion.
