OT: HP 4100 printer gremlins; exterminator needed...
I have an HP 4100n which has been incredibly reliable for the last year. Yesterday, as I was printing two sets of edocs, the printer icon in the lower right-hand corner started popping up a message stating "Document failed to print." Weird thing is, all the files still printed properly, including letter- vs legal- sized paper.
I just printed a doc from Mapquest, and it did it again. I'm using the same laptop, same USB cable, everything. Any ideas? TIA

I've had that on my brother; oh Brother, should I attempt to fix what isn't broken? It eventually quit - one of those unexplained mysteries of the cosmos?

I have a love-hate relationship with all things technological, anyway. Can't live with 'em; can't live without 'em.

Re: same here LoL...
That happens with my Brother too sometimes and the docs still all print. From time to time the printer seems to get "jammed up" not a paper jam- but a memory jam. I will shut down and un plug everything; the computer and printer. Restart and it seems to work it. This happens when I print a lot in one day! Good luck

Similar issue with my color laser jet 4550, but usually only when the print job hadn't cleared the "spooler" on my computer. Leaned to ignore it and listened to the printer instead.

I have the same situation with my Brother 5150D
Don't know why it happens, and I've pretty much learned to ignore it. I do check to make sure the last page in the PDF printed properly. The fact that it only happens with PDFs (for me, at least) suggests that the problem is in Adobe Reader rather than with the printer itself.

Re: I have the same situation with my Brother 5150D
The first time it happened (yesterday), it was printing from pdf, but today it was a picture (map) from Mapquest. I don't think those are pdf, although I confess I'm woefully ignorant regarding these things. I guess I'll just be happy the docs are printing correctly in spite of the error message.
Thanks, everyone!
