SLOW DAY

I guess I will have to look for a JOB!

Been looking but jobs are harder to find than signings. Last week was good, not great but good. This week should be good since it is end of month has been terrible.

Damn right, looking for a decent job is getting hard to find and the older you are makes it even harder. Now if you want 7-9 dollar work plenty of stores will hire you.

Re: What is the minimum wage these days? $6.75?

It will depend where you live. California is now 8.00.

Follow the link for the other states.

Florida is $6.79, I was close!
I can't imagine how I could live on that amount.

It really doesn't matter what minimum wage is it just

is the minimum, raising it just causes everything else to raise to the same level. Purchasing power does not increase when the minimum wage goes up and minimum wage was never intended to be a living wage. All increasing minimum wage does is devalue the dollar.

Re: What is the minimum wage these days?

In Idaho it is $5.85. I cannot see how people can live on that

$8.00 in Ca and $9.36 in the SF Bay Area, but, the

purchasing power is a lot less than the wage would indicate.

I haven't had one all week..newbies take note!

And nothing except a revised note signing on my books for today, IF the brw gets a satisfactory answer about it from his LO.
<Sigh>
Not only is this not profitable anymore, but I am bored to tears.
This is my 5th year as an NSA, and I have a large TC clientele, who says nothing is
happening with them, either.

Re: I haven't had one all week..newbies take note!

Am doing a pool loan today (2nd) and when I was called the owner of co. said that this may be last for looong time as tightened rules and...

Like the above poster, I am bored to death and changing my outlook (not email server) about this as a career/job/sideline/hobby.

I apply to cos - get notices that 'we are no longer accepting applications from your area', 'we have 10million in your area' (not $$) or see that the company is not longer able to accept your email -undeliverable. Discouraging at best..

I suspect that in Ca this will change with the new rules

The renewal in CA is getting a little more difficult and many will drop out becasue they won't want to comply with the renewal requirements just to say that they are notaries. In CA for the first time in a number of years the real estate licensees giving up their licenses has exceeded the new applications, this will eventually help the business overall.

Hadn't thought about it that way... Good!

The only thing that bothers me about the changes is the pic part, but since I reupped last June, I got over 3 yrs to lose enough weight to be happy about a pic! Wink

Christi, I just got mine done today (at Costco for $5.38, incl tax). Fortunately, I realized that no one is really going to see them anyway. It's just for the background check. But if this is good incentive for you, go for it! Smile

I have had one signing all month long. ( I also do this in the evenings and weekends). I have had a call for one over 100 miles away but I got the standard "I will see if we can get that approved and call you back"

When I worked at the Bay Area TC's

Jan & Feb were catch up months. We caught up on all the reconveyances that we didn't have time to deal with earlier in the year. Filing, organizing, and everything there was never enough hours in the day to do when things were normal or busy.

Re: Business is picking up

7 signings this week 6 of them quick HELOCs, no calls for Friday or Saturday yet. That means it will be a last minute free for all. I'm looking for babysitters now even though I have nothing on the books yet. Friday and Saturday night looking for a "trusted" baby sitter is hard to come by.

I had to turn down a last minute deal close to my house last night because I could not get a baby sitter. I see last minute deals are going to kill me now.

I have to say not a great month but much better then some months I had last year.

So far so good this month for me, not bragging, but anything

is an improvement over the last 2007 quarter for me, I was lucky to get 2 closing a week during that period. So far this week 9.

Only had 2 so far for this month and one for tonight.

I had one scheduled last night but BO cancelled when she found out that feds cut the rates again. I guess she'll try to get a better deal from her LO.
