Work is down by 75%, and territories are saturated.
I used to make $5,000 a month doing this. Now I am sitting at home, the phone silent, and trying to think of ways to make money. I have 7 years full time experience and over 100 conndections. Until the mortgage crises is over (I am guessing three years, becuase that's how long they were selling neg-am subprimes) I don't see any reall work on the horizon.
My husband restores cars. (He works alone, we are not rich.) I have been grateful that his work is untouched by this mortgage situation. Well last night he came home and said that his best-paying customer got laid off. Thought he works in oil, the company was short billions of dollars this quarter, due to their loan divison, so they laid him off too.
(His other customers want the cars done NOW, but they dribble out the money, just like some signing services.)
Hundreds of thousands of title people, loan people, broker people and signing services are out of work since August. This is across the nation. Many of them have become signing agents (mobile notaries) becuase they understand loan documents. But there is no work for us, who are established, and there is no work for them, even though they have the expertise.
I am only telling you the truth. If I had work, I would not be on the notary board today.
