Unbelievable borrowers 3rd time was the charm
This was a purchase of property in Las Vegas. The borrowers are Chinese. First time I was there, Mr. refused to sign the QCD taking him off completely of title. He kept asking me a hundred times "why do I have to do this?" "Who gets the property if something happens to my wife". These are questions you have to ask your LO or attorney I kept telling him. I have no idea WHY you are being taken off title. How in the h*** am I supposed to know (to myself). We went no further. He also did not see on the HUD where his neice who sold him the house was giving him back 1/2 of her commission. Title told me that this is not legal and if he and she worked that out, it had to be done under the table. He still insisted it be shown on the HUD. Title said no can do. He refuses to understand this and asked me about this at least 10 times. 2nd time he signs the QCD (still asking me those questions) and still no answer from me. He was baiting me to try and get me to say something. He keeps saying that someone is trying to screw him and if he found it who it was, he would sue. At this point, I almost packed up and left. We get through 3/4 of the docs and he stops me at the amoritization schedule (which I usually just flip and tell them they have a copy). He sits there forever with this schedule looking at each months interest. He gets out a calculator and starts punching numbers. He decides he doesn't want a 30yr loan. He now wants a 5yr loan. I told him (probably shoudn't have) that his payments are going to be a whole lot higher than they are right now. He doesn't care. He wants a 5yr loan so he doesn't have to pay all this interest. Ok, whatever you say. We again stop. 3rd time, he signs. Still asking me why he is not on the title and why he couldn't get a 5yr loan instead of 30. This guy was something else. He did not, could not, would not understand my role in this process. He was told the very same thing over and over and over by LO and title. I was told that if he didn't sign the 3rd time the deal was off and to find another lender and title company himself. He was that ridiculous. Everyone involved was ready to tell this guy to take a hike and find a chinese lender. Only fun thing about it was I was served delicious crab rangoon twice. They are yummy. Title was more than fair on my fee for the 3 times. I gave them a discount on the 3rd trip. I think I could have asked for the moon and they would have given it to me just to get it done and over with and out of everyone's hair. Forgot two things. When we finished the 3rd time with doc's signed and he gave me the cashier's check, he wanted a reciept. I don't have any (never had a need before). He made me write one on a business card. Not a problem. Then he asked me for the key to the house. He did not want to understand that when title gets the signed docs back, they will contact him and they will make arrangements with him. He gets on the phone to his LO and blasts him for not sending the key with me. What kind of business are we trying to run he kept telling his LO. This guy really thinks that someone is trying to screw him. Unbelievable. I am proud of myself for keeping my cool and not saying anything I would regret later. The girls at Title were professional and completely understood what I was going through for they too had had enough of this guy. Thanks for letting me vent and rant.

you have more patience than I do. 'Problem' borrowers never see me a second time. I am always 'unavailable' for the reschedule. Also, the few times I've heard the word 'sue' used in my presence, my mouth immediately closes other than the VERY basic and I never set foot in that door again. I realize most people are just blowing smoke but not in my direction and certainly not for the fees we earn. Had a man call me the other week and accuse me of stealing $8,000 from his bank account. I hung up on him. I've got NOTHING to say to people like that. He called about 10 minutes later apologizing - said he checked with the bank and the money was there. Wanted me to return the call so he could apologize - I didn't return the call. As for your borrower, I've also had them where they can't or won't understand our part in the process. I sometimes feel it's an act on their part - just being a royal pain for the sake of being a pain. All that said, I had 6 appts. yesterday and 6 wonderful couples/borrowers/buyers who were all well informed about their loans. Some days, we've got a great job. Other days ...

Gee, and here I'd think you'd hear that word a lot more than the rest of us
