A public apology
This is in reference to the "2008 Best ..." award. It turns out not to be what I thought it was. The local paper here (the Citrus Chronicle) annually holds the "Best of the Best" contest which takes votes from the local citizenry. They are in the process of announcing the winners. Unfortunately, the similarity in the name led me astray.
It's nice to be recognized, but this recognition is empty. However, the congratulatory posts and emails more than make up for it. I would rather have the gratitude from my peers any day.
To all of you, a deep and sincere thank you.

Re: A public apology, No apology necessary Paul...
While it may be an empty honor you are in very good company from a brief search on Google. We all know that your knowledge, experience and helpfulness are certainly award worthy!

If you were duped, how it is your apology to make? Totally
unnecessary on your part. You, as far as I can tell, did not attempt to lead anyone astray. So sorry your week had to end on this bitter note, although, as you know, you are loved, respected and admired for all the right reasons by those who really know you.
Now blow it off and enjoy your week-end.

No national award? NO AWARD?
Does that mean we have to judge you just by what we see on this forum?
Let's see...On the one hand, we have an illusory award. On the other we have years of helpful contributions to thousands on this forum. Award...forum contributions...award...forum contributions.
I think your reputation is safe, Paul.

Everyone deserves a mulligan, Paul
I'm just sorry that you sent the money. It's a believable scam just like Who's who.
When I was a High School Sophomore, I received a letter declaring that because of my multiple achievements, I was elected to "Who's who among American High School Students." I was so proud! I sent the $49.95 (my own money. I've worked since I was 13) and received an HUGE book with the rest of the people that were worthy of the designation. I was so proud that I included the achievement on my resume for years. When I was 17 I applied for an entry level position at the Advertising Firm my Mother was working for in the Bay Area and that was when I became enlightened. I interviewed with the owner's son, was hired and much later he informed me that Who's who was a scam and a rip off and I should take it off my resume. Since the firm was strictly a trade and print media firm, I believed him and did as I was told. Lesson learned.

Didn't cost me anything.
I never sent any money! It didn't cost me one penny, just embarrassment in that I didn't check them out first before "accepting" the award. As I said before, I had no issues with them (whoever 'they' are), and our email conversations were responsive and forthright, at least I thought so.

details, details, who cares! You're still the best of the best...It is the quality of your contributions and your steadfastness that we love the most....I've never seen a negative, slandering, condescending post from you, always the highest level of integrity, true and honest, valid information...You still have my congrats and accolades...It's a pleasure to be in your company on this and "other" boards. Have a great weekend, Paul. Every time I look at my gold magnetic sign, I smile, it is so classy and everyone compliments me (you) on it.
