Beware of phone calls soliciting info.

Today I received a call from someone claiming to be an attorney. He wanted information about the circumstances surrounding someone having had me notarize permission for a child to travel. First, there's no way he is an attorney. Second, I never, ever give any client / customer information on the phone. Period.

The most that he would be entitled to _without a court order_ is a copy of my journal entry. IF he could provide the exact date on which the alledged notarization took place and the exact name of the signer, and he sent a pre-addressed, postage paid envelope, then he'd get a photocopy of the single journal entry.

Do not be fooled into revealing anyone's information. Do not get into a discussion with the caller! Do not defend yourself. Be polite but firm. Then hang up.

If a court, an attorney, or an officer of the law wants data, then they'll give you explicit written instructions. Maybe even a subpeona.

According to Oregon, nobody is entitled to see my journal

because I am not an elected official. The only way is for them to get permission from the SOS. Police & FBI through a warrant process.
