Any one heard of this group, CEDC Neighbor Works Homeownership Center, funded by grants from US Department of HUD. They are able to help about 30% of homeowners in the Central Coast where in North County foreclosures are up 50%. They particularly assist seniors and disabled persons, working with the lenders to save homeowners from foreclosure. I had a loan modification from Countrywide yesterday, 71 year old lady who has lived in her home for 40 years, CEDC worked with C/W to come to modification terms so lady wouldn't lose her home. If you know of any one who might benefit from this, WHAT A TERRIFIC RESOURCE. I'm definitely keeping this card close to my vest, as I may be able to share this information with someone who really could be helped. This website is for Central Coast office, but I'm sure they are all over CA. www.cabrilloedc.org.
CW lowered the interest rate and extended the loan for five and five, a total of ten years. This woman's children thought it was too good to be true, but alas, it was valid and now she's whole again for another 10 years. This will not help people who got into properties for income properties, and it will not help people who are delinquent, must be current, and have bad credit, or are encumbered with too much credit card debt.
