FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
PAW Financial & Notary Services Receives 2008 Best of Zephyrhills Award
U.S. Local Business Association's Award Plaque Honors the Achievement
WASHINGTON D.C., July 17, 2008 -- PAW Financial & Notary Services has been selected for the 2008 Best of Zephyrhills Award in the Notary Public category by the U.S. Local Business Association (USLBA).
The USLBA "Best of Local Business" Award Program recognizes outstanding local businesses throughout the country. Each year, the USLBA identifies companies that they believe have achieved exceptional marketing success in their local community and business category. These are local companies that enhance the positive image of small business through service to their customers and community.
Various sources of information were gathered and analyzed to choose the winners in each category. The 2008 USLBA Award Program focused on quality, not quantity. Winners are determined based on the information gathered both internally by the USLBA and data provided by third parties.

Congratulations, Paul! Being aware of your presence on the boards, I was just thinking the other day that someone should nominate you for NNA's "Notary of the Year", even though I'm thinking you're not an advocate of that organization. Your honor is very well-deserved. Thank you for the major contribution you make to the notary industry through your participation & guidance offered through the boards & your website. You rock!

Correction made by USLBA
The USLBA has made a correction to the award.
The city Zephyrhills (our previous location) was erroneously mentioned. The award is presented for Inverness, our current location.

Be Cautious with USLBA
I received a similar email myself recently. I had never heard of the USLBA, so I decided to check the BBB web site at http://www.dc.bbb.org, and they advise caution in dealing with the USLBA. This organization may or may not be legit.
Here is the BBB statement:
Companies report receiving an e-mail notice of an award as a local business. They are asked to link to the group's web site to obtain a plaque commemorating the award. There is a cost for the plaque, but that fact is not part of the the e-mail notice. Once the firm links to the web site, it can be routed to the information about costs. It is unclear if a company can opt out of the award cost, once it gets that far. The only means of contacting USLBA is via e-mail.
The Pennsylvania Avenue address of the firm is a known mail receiving/forwarding address. The BBB is attempting to determine if the entitiy has a real presence locally. We have no current phone listing for the USLBA, which indicates on its web site at www.uslba.net, that it is a business membership association. No contact information is obtainable from the web site except via e-mail. Those approached with e-mail notification of such awards are advised to be cautious, as with any contacts from unknown groups.

Sorry, Paul, but it's a scam.
Just like Who's who. It is just a way to scam money from unsuspecting business owners. If you don't believe me, read this.
http://www.wave3.com/global/story.asp?s=8694977
Crutcher wasn't happy about the scam. "For someone to just come by, use our name and tell people they're winners and fool them at the same time, it's just egg on all of us."
A company called United States Local Business Administration created these awards, apparently as a way to take money from dozens of businesses through an honor that's been around in Louisville for 23 years.
We wanted to talk with the people giving these bogus awards. With the address of the company, U.S. Local Business Administration, in hand, we took our investigation to the streets of Washington, DC. No one had heard of the building in question, not even the officers who work on Pennsylvania Avenue.
There was a UPS Store at the address we had, but we were locked out. It turns out the culprits are hiding behind a mailbox.
