Did anyone get the email from NSC??

This by no means is meant to make anyone mad but the body of the email is asking for us to let them know if we fall into a certain category.

"NSC, in a working partnership with our Lender/Clients, has been requested to determine how often we are able to utilize businesses that have special government designated ownership classifications such as MBE (Minority Owned Business Enterprise), DBE (Disadvantaged Business Enterprise), WBE (Woman Owned Business Enterprise) or GLBT (Gay, Lesbian, Bi-sexual, Transgender owned businesses)."

Now I technically do not fall into any of these groupings. If I say I belong to the GLBT, will I get more closings? ( i picked that one because I am not black nor female)

Why do we have to have these groups? I am a white male and have been doing my job for the last 5 years with little or no complaints but because I am not falling into these minority groupings......kinda ridiculous that they have to send these emails out.

Ok... I am prepared to get hit, but go ahead. Only reason I placed this here was because it was sent from a signing/title company.

This is NOT something you just 'say'. It has to be verified/certified/registered. There is a link somewhere (don't remember) to each of the classifications that tells you what hoops need to be jumped thru to verifiy your 'group' and how much it costs to do this. This is not an NSC cost--just the 'group cost'.

Soo why do people worry about who they give their closings to? As long as they are doing the job and doing it correctly and within the legal guidelines.... Why does it matter if I am gay, black, female or a member of a disadvantaged business?? I feel I am disadvantaged because I am doing what I am supposed to do according to the state guidelines( TPL and I live in Indiana) but I know one person that doesnt have her TPL and another that lives in another state but Indiana doesn't care even after turning the information into them.

Sorry I know know I am venting... But this stuff is frustrating....and ridiculous IMHO.

I honestly do not think so.

required to fill minority contracts

I worked for a woman's owned business enterprise. She was certified because many state & federal contracts are required to use a percentage of minority owned businesses. I have had this request from one other lending institution and I'm not sure how it applies unless they are receiving federal or state funds that require minority participation.

Re: required to fill minority contracts

e-mail says that NSC's 'client/Lenders' have asked for this info. Hence, the e-mail to Vendors.
I checked not very thoroughly and the certification process takes 60-90 days and costs (I dunno....they lost me there.) You must supply tons of paperwork and I just don't much see them being real impressed by the lone NSA who is area-specific.

That's right, Lee...I remember now...I looked into all that

and you have to find an organization to qualify you...I think? And, it costs a bit of money, too.

Re: required to fill minority contracts

E-mails like this one Pi$$ me off, and I'm a girl. Unfortunately, white males seem to be at the bottom of the food chain now, and females and African Americans are sliding down the ladder right behind them. Soon, if not already, females and African Americans will no longer be considered to have any minority status what-so-ever.
I resent this type of diversity BS because the person who does a good job should be the person the company calls. Calls should have nothing to do with someone's ethnic background or sex.
If a company finds someone who does a good job for them, why should it matter what sex or color they are.
The other day, some company ask me what my ethnic background was and what language I spoke. My response was, "I am an American and I speak English."
WTF.

Ok I am registered as a MBE which includes all Minorities not just black. DBE is for those who make under 17 million (?) for the last 3 years, WBE (51% or more owned by a woman and a SBE/SLBE (small local business enterprise. It does not cost to become any of these just the paperwork and show proof (i.e. taxes. Id copy)

I hate that kind of crap, when they ask 'Race' I reply

'human'. I would not respond to these highly personal nonsensical invasions of privacy.
Ever since the Feds denied me a promotion because I was an 'average white male' in the 1980's, I have had my own 'Don't ask, don't tell' policy.
