Got my first field inspection job from NotRot!

Vision Compliance is using NotRot to find field inspectors. I was pleasantly surprised.

Re: Called me 3 weeks ago

I have been working for them for about 1 year. They do direct deposit- which is cool and you get your money in about 10-15 days. Their picture upload is slow. I love inspections in between signings....they go hand in hand!

It takes too long to upload photos...

it took me 45 minutes. If I drive 40 min round trip, spend 15 minutes doing the inspection, and 15 minutes on the report, it is practically 2 hours total. Unless I can figure out how to upload the photos quicker, it is not worth my while. I will spend the time working on marketing instead.

Re:Lynn It takes too long to upload photos...

You might want to try this: Google JPEG Imager if this link doesn't work. You can get into under 60-70 pixels with no loss of clarity or physical size.

You could also try ImageResizerPowertoySetup from MS. A free D/L, but I don't know if you can get it much smaller.

What does the size of the photo... # of pixels (?)...have to do with uploading the it? I don't have a techie cell in my body!

Re: Re:Lynn It takes too long to upload photos...

My techy bone is cut, but megapixels is what you are sending in all those 1s & 0s. The fewer to send, the less time it takes to send. The one with the URL (address) costs a buck or two, but the MS one is free, IF it'll do the job. I can't remember if it will.

Rick - thanks!

I have downloaded the software and will try it out tonight. If I can do it smoothly, I will take some more inspection work.

Re: Rick - thanks!

I read somewhere that these inspection companies want you to take the pictures in the lowest setting which is easier to send by e-mail as Rick said. Check your camera for the picture settings. My Olympus goes down to 640x480.

I got one and completed it about a week ago. Rather easy I thought. Any clue on turn around time for pay?

Is there special training to do these?

Reply by ME/NJ on 7/28/08 1:43pm

No special training needed, just a decent digi camera and follow the directions. Seems each one I did is part of our industry. Got another call today for one Wednesday.

They will call you if they have work in the area, seems I am one of the few in my area.

Am I the only person here that has not heard of "field inspections"? At the risk of sounding stupid....what exactly is a field inspection?

Vison Compliance...

...I forget...what title company are they affiliated with?

They're good to work with...

I've done a lot of work for Vision Compliance over the past year; nice people, and if they like your work they'll call you often. Getting good, clear photos is key - they're looking for visual proof that the company they've sent you to check out is for real. Most are but some are questionable, so I just let my pictures tell the story...

VC is apparently a division of American Title (that's where the checks come from). They seem to prefer using notaries as inspectors, which is OK by me - they found me here on NotRot about a year ago. Most jobs take 10-15 minutes to complete, plus whatever time it takes you to upload the pictures and complete the online questionnaire, plus travel time. Keep it close to home and it will be profitable for you. Payment has been within 30 days, sometimes less.

Good luck! I think you'll enjoy working with them.

Re: They're good to work with...

what is the pay for this work? It seems pretty easy to do....and a lot of administrative time spent on it.
