Gotta Love NNA newsletter
I love these helpful tips. Obviously they live in a box. Read below.
Parenthesis are my comments
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Budget Your Gas
With gas prices skyrocketing to record levels, it's important for Notary Signing Agents to manage their fuel budget carefully. (While expected to accept less money)
If an Agent has more than one assignment on the same day, try arranging your itinerary so that you can complete multiple assignments with one automobile trip. (Would this be before or after I receive docs??)
Plan your travel carefully using maps or a GPS in order to maximize fuel efficiency. (Instead of the rural houses behind the 3rd tree on the other side of the mountain)
If possible, try to schedule assignments outside of peak rush hour times to avoid being stuck in traffic. (In DC my area that would be Before 7AM or after 8PM)
Slowing down can also help you save gas. According to the Web site fueleconomy.gov, aggressive driving and sudden braking can lower gas mileage by as much as 33 percent at highway speeds. Staying closer to the speed limit is not only safer but more likely to help your car use fuel more efficiently. (Is this before or after popping 2 Valium?) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
What would I do without them.

And they forgot to include this:
When confirming appointments for different clients, make sure they are aware of your policy to reschedule closing dates and times in order to meet YOUR needs. Why should you waste time and gas by making the same 40 mile drive on three separate days when you can schedule them one right after the other?
JK
I wish I could have done that last month when I went to the same town, 40 miles away, three times within the same week.

Yes, it's usually good for a laugh. Don't you just love how they seem to believe that we're all small children or idiots. Do they wonder why notaries are so disenchanted with NNA??? They also forgot the part about telling the client that you can't possibly run home between signings to print docs because it costs too much--yeah, right.

Re: The part about gas saving is true.
The reason years ago, when Nixon was President, the highway speed limit was reduced to 55 miles per hour was to save gasoline.
I owned a 7-11 Store with gasoline for 14 years and the national gas manager for Southland Corp (owner of 7-11) suggested that our customers fill their gas tanks in the early morning to keep the fumes from the heat of the day out of the tanks and also not using the "full fuel clip" to fill their tanks.
I had a student in my class last weekend, whose husband was part of a family owned gas station, and I asked her if this information was still true today as it had been in the 90'S
She said it was absolutely true today!
Also when you are going downhill: take your foot off the gas and coast.
