Ha! Settlement Corp/titleserv
I just got a notice with my check from Settlement Corp that they continue to overnight documents but if they have to send edocs, THEIR fees are as follows:
Home Equity- $7.50 First Mortgage-$12.50 Purchase-$12.50 Piggy Back-$5.00
This is laughable to me. I have never done an O/N for them. This is probably almost what it costs to me print, not make a profit for the extra service I provide. Plus because its a piggy back, even though it would probably be the same amount of pages, we get almost 1/3 of the fee?
LMAO at this letter!

They usually call me and book me for O/N docs, but then it often turns into e-docs and their system automatically generates a new confirmation for the print fee (used to be $25). Now when they call, they will get my all-inclusive e-doc fee quote without regard to how the docs are coming. And then if an O/N job turns into an e-doc job, I may get a $12.50 bonus.

I'm with you Copperhead VA. You are doing exactly what I plan on doing. What are these people thinking ? Sorry Titleserv Notaries do not get special Discounts for anything they purchase and we do not Discount our Time. Geeez!

OK, Here's the deal:
Spouse & I are coming to your restaurant at 7pm tonight. You're going to have a table ready, white linen tablecloth & napkins, candles, flowers. A waiter who anticipates our every want. We'll have some wine, start with a salad, soup, surf & turf, & of course, dessert and an after-dinner drink. And you're going to charge me only for the food--at exactly what you pay for it--with a discount because we're 2 people, of course. Seems to be the way 'they' think now. Sheeeesh....

And if you have a spat and leave the table and the restaurant, all is lost except for what is actually consumed. Waiter tip: character of the buyer will tell.

How about if you just roll the dice and play for double or nothing?

I haven't been getting many closings from them lately, anyway, since Citibank is having so much trouble. I have one today, but, I received the docs overnight.

I just received a notice with a check as well... it reads in part:
Effective August 1st, Titleserv/Settlement Corp. has implemented an additonal fee for the delivery of emailed closing packages.
Talk about putting a positive spin on a negative situation!

Settlement Corp/titleserv are unreasonably low payers
I just got my first check from them and it was short by a significant amount. When I questioned the shortage they became nasty and unprofessional. I've done thousands of closings for 100's of attorney's, lenders, title companies and signing services and never before have I experienced such unprofessional-ism.
Their CEMA's are almost 500 pages including borrower copy and they pay $12.50 to print. To me that is not reasonable. Kinkos and Staples charge 9 cents per page so if you're on the road and need to use them you lose about 6 cents a page.
Also, they expect you to cover a large region for a low fee. I told them I cannot travel 1.5 to 2 hours for that fee.
One last point, if you think you will be paid in 2 weeks like most title companies you will be disappointed. It can take up to 45 days to get paid.
I will still close for them but will only travel local unless they have multiples in the same area. The less Signing Agents they can find for the low fees the more they will be forced to pay reasonably.
Hope this helps anyone considering accepting work from them.
