Helpful tip/printing blanK?

Ever started printing and you note the printer is printing blank sheets? I noted quite awhile ago a title co w/Signing Pro as SS, sent docs last minute and dang...I checked and had almost all docs printed when I noticed blank sheets....I called a couple of people but no one knew why this was. I'm a novice when it comes to computers and printers, but this business has given me the opportunity to get "with it" when it comes to figuring out what to do if something happens with printing etc.
So: here's the solution, you might cut and paste to keep this suggestion at hand...you never know when your up against the clock and this will happen:
(1). send your docs to your printer and click print. (2) when print box comes up, notice in the left bottom, there are 2 boxes, one says "printing tips", the other says "ADVANCED ". click on Advanced. the box will say, "Advanced Printing Setup" On the lower left/bottom, there will be a box that says " Print to image". click this and away you go!!!
The print time will be slightly slower, but not much, but will get you on your way quickly and without stress. Hope this helps fellow notaries....I know how you all feel at "crunch time!"

This applies when the sender of e-docs scans them as an image, rather than as text.

you may not know. It would work either way. Just a note, when you are finished printing, go back to advanced, click and remove your check, as next time/any other company sending docs, you would use usual method. This is just a help in the even it happens to you and you don't know what to do.

How to tell if the PDF file is "text" or "image"

There's actually a couple of tests you can do.

(1) Check the document properties - fonts. If a list of fonts come up, the file is a text file. If not, chances are it's an image file.

(2) Search for a word, such as "mortgage" or the borrower's name. If the search finds and highlights the word, it's a text file. if it doesn't find it, but you can see it on your screen, the file is an image file.

Check the page orientation too

When you view the file, if the pages are "sideways" or "up-side down", it's an image file.

If some moron scans in the file as an adobe image, or a tif, or even a jpeg file, I call them and tell them I only take adobe print (ocr) files, Unless they are using magicdocs, or docmaster or some other program. EVERYBODY uses Adobe, tell them to wake up and rescan the docs.

Re: Helpful tip/printing blanK? It's good work if you can

get it Les, but since I'm on the doc prep end of that stick during the day and I am in touch with my affiliated title company guys and gals where the name of the game is

-get it done right
-get it fast
-get it to the other party yesterday
-grab another file and
-repeat until the pile is gone...

I have a different view.

When my buddies over at the TC scan in documents I figure out how to print them out and they do the same for me. (Although I don't send them over sideways unless they are legal. If they are legal, I have to rotate them before sending them. Can't that be done with Adobe Reader?)

It's not time effective in most situations to create *.pdfs from each individual document. And, with today's technology it can be possible to edit *.pdfs which aren't images.

It can be very difficult to revisit a file which might have already been indexed and stored ten minutes after it reaches its destination and IMHO won't build favor. Things move very fast in doc prep. But, that's just me reporting my experience from the trenches. YMMV.

Brenda,

Image or not, one can still change information in a .pdf file IF they really wanted to. It's a very easy process ... so even IMAGE files are not "secure".

Yep.

Very easily...just not as easily undetectable.
