Interesting Signing

Whoa, arrived at borrowers house to handle a refi signing. Wife came down stairs and said that she would not be signing any papers. Apologized to me then turned to husband and said since you have been having an affair for over a year I don't think I should sign anything until I have spoken with my attorney. Uh, wow, I told her that I would have to call the signing company and inform them, while I was dialing the number they started arguing about who supported who and what the other was and was not going to get. Contacted signing company and told them that wife would not sign for personal reasons, did they call their LO, yes, but she still will not sign, ok leave. Husband was totally embarrassed, felt sorry for them both. Gathered my things and drove home.

I hope you get your full fee for this no-sign. No more of that "just a trip or printing fee" CR*P.

I've had a couple of signings like this....oh boy oh boy oh boy, where is that hole in the floor you want to swallow you up in! This is when you need a time machine. Clearly a good time to simply fade into obliqueness. Ha! I remember doing a signing for a man who had had an affair, refing his home, his wife still on the title, divorce in process, and wifey sat there the whole time, signing because it benefitted her too, scanning every document, glaring at her husband. It was the loooonnnngest signing. Thank God it was a small package, about five years ago.

Yesterday I was at the gas pump in Buellton, CA when one of my signing borrowers whom I signed in SB County Jail was gassing up. She had been arrested and sentenced for her third DUI, hitting a fire hydrant at 70 MPH. Refi'g so hubby could bail her out and pay for all her fines, legal fees and costs to rehab. She seemed pretty dry, but what a crazy world. Up front and personal is what signing folks up can be.
