New Millennium Title in Maple Grove, MN
Just received this today. I've only worked for them once, in March 2007, and they paid $150 at that time.
Hello Notaries, I am sending out this e-mail to update all of you about some changes that need to start immediately. I was informed this morning that we need to lower our notary fees to $115.00 for a 1st mortgage refi w/e-docs and 165 for a 1st and 2nd mortgage refi w/edocs, that being the most we can pay out. The industry is struggling right now and as a title/closing company we are feeling this also. We will need to stay at this fee for all witness closings. Hopefully most of you will understand our need to do this. I understand if you will not be able to accept this new fee. Please e-mail me right away if this will not work for you. ** PLEASE make sure that when we are sending you closings Docs. That you are looking through your packages very carefully to make sure everything is getting signed. We add and take out forms all of the time and we need to make sure we are getting signed correctly and sent back with the UPS labels attached.

Someone just posted #254989 a couple of days ago about New Millennium Title (if it is the same one). Possibly they were swamped with notaries trying to sign on and decided it was a good time to make their fee change.

I've never figured out why people post about good companies. There are zillions of lurkers who jump at these posts - to say nothing of the signing services. I would NEVER post about my good clients on purpose (screwed up last month when I thought I was doing a pm but posted on the board). I pm people who ask about good companies but don't divulge to the world at large.

Important point!!
I couldn't agree more. And if this IS the reason for the email, it's a classic example of why not to post those links. What other business do you know of where someone would put out there for all to see, the names of their best clients. Most companies who deal with a product or service employ -- and pay a great deal of money to -- sales people whose jobs it is to go out and dig up good clients. It's the most valuable commodity a business has!
To those of you who post good tc clients: some of those lurkers sue_pa talked about are right in your backyard and may be more than happy to undercut you in price. You might say that you're not afraid of a little competition, but what you're also not thinking about is that you've also put everyone else who has that company as a client at risk for being undercut in price. And who knows how long and hard they worked to get that lead. [And some of those people are among the most helpful and knowledgeable on this board! You think they'll feel like helping someone who did this with a question they might have later?] Without realizing it, you may be taking a shot at someone on this board who you admire and appreciate, and from whom you've learned a great deal. Not a nice way to pay them back... (jmho)
This is just part of the problem with dropping fees and there are many other factors at play. But while I imagine your intentions are to be helpful, these are some other issues to think about before making that post...
