I have done several for Land America(good and fast pay). I got a call from a person last night to do a signing today. The person who called represented himself as Land America and I accepted. I later found out that he now (according to him) has all of the Land America business in North Carolina. He is a representive of Signing Agent Plus. It seems like working for Land America directly in NC is no longer an option. I cancelled the assignment for several reasons # 1. I don't know these people and what kind of payment history they have. I may have cut my nose off to spite my face but I don't want to work for a new middleman so he can get his cut of the pie when in the past I got his slice. I told him I would either work for Land America directly or I would just not work for them at all. Why Land America went down this road, I don't know. I have tried to contact their scheduling person to find out but he won't return my calls.

sow. middleman are they paying more than their $65? or is

it now$50. I quit them long ago when they dropped to $65 as it was less than half of what they originally paid me.

I have had three calls from the guy at Signing Agents Plus in the last week...that name came up on the caller ID, but, he represented himself as being from Land Am. He will have a tough time getting NSA's to take an edoc closing for $85.

I work directly with LandAm and get $85/edoc signing. I just did one for them Friday and I requested and extra $25 trip fee on Monday because I had taken the package directly to FedEx specifically for them on Sat so it would get to them on Mon, 7/28/08. And they paid me; sent me out a new confirmation. They are not the best paying Title Company but they’re not the lowest. One thing however, you will get paid on time; within 10 – 30 days.

Some companies will work with you, others won't. You'll get to know the tolerances of your client base as you do more work for them.
I would call Land Am directly and deal with them directly. Do not sign any agreements with the Signing Company until you talk with the title Company. They can refer you to the Company nearest you.

I have done work for Land America in 2007 and always paid well within 30 days... that's why this threw me off. I will call Land America directly and see whatz up. I'm nervous about dealing with this Signing Agent Plus without some track record of payment.

I don't understand how notaries can take less than $100 for e-docs. Whether it's slow or not, it makes it harder on other notaries. In California e-docs should not be done for less than $100. That's just my opinion and I always get that fee -- even when things are slow. Don't sell yourself short.

I called Land America to verify that Signing Agent Plus is their SS for North Carolina because there was a law change in NC and they are required to go through a signing service? Sounds like a load of bull to me. Anyone heard of any law changes in NC recently? This sounds weird to me. I'm getting paid less than going through Land America directly which I used to be $XXX.00.

Reference your statement

"I'm getting paid less than going through Land America directly which I used to be $XXX.00."

You could have cut your nose off like I did and just say "NO". Why do you want to give the new guy a piece of your pie?

If I didn't already explain it, Don Laney identified himself as Land America, not as Signing Agent Plus. I assumed I was dealing with Land America and my rate was the same until I received the confirmation which was forwarded from Land America stating $85 and noting Don as the payee! This is when I got suspicious and called Land America to find out what was going on. I won't deal with a signing company who outsources their notaries to another siging service hence I get a lower fee and the referred signing service gets the difference as his "management fee" (as Don referred to it). Don also theatened me with forwarding my emails to Land America's legal department and said "I'd watch what I post..." [on Notary Rotary]. It's a free country right! I'm only questioning what's going on and not getting an honest answer.
