Silk Abstract

Anyone worked with Silk Abstract out of PA lately? I worked with them last year and no problem. So I take the job, and after the fact learn it is “Split the package Wednesday” Not only do they want most of the package faxed back to them, they want me to make copies of the signed lender docs and FedEx them to the lender, (after they review the faxes) and send the originals to them?! And they REQUIRE that I sign anywhere the “settlement agent” signs, on their behalf (like the HUD, etc. that I did NOT prepare) I said; you will get the faxed stuff today (this evening) and the FedEx Friday, and YOU can then fax whatever the lender wants to them so they can fund Monday. Why should I jump through all the unnecessary hoops? Their answer “It’s our policy” Just so you know if Silk calls you with a Wednesday job, quote at least $200

Re: Silk Abstract--Not at my end of the swamp, but thanks fo

heads up! None for them recently, but last time there wasn't anywhere near as many hoops. Wondering... is this some Lender thing? And, if so, who? Actually, it really sounds like they've cut staff to save money & are just farming their work out to us. Hey, pay me & I'll do it! Do I get benefits, too?

Re: Now we really need to know who the lender is!

This particular loan was not Countrywide, however they (Silk) also do them, and want every doc signed by the borrower, or the notary faxed back. And this a Title company without a toll free phone or fax number....makes you wonder? If they can't afford a toll free phone, can they afford to actually pay the notary? They HAVE paid me in the past....but?

Re: Now we really need to know who the lender is!

I've handled closings for Silk and the only ones that meet the requirements you have outlined is CW. So why not tell us who the other company is?
