Who's your insurance carrier?
I dropped Allstate 4 years ago because of their premiums getting higher and higher. I was with them for more than 15 years with my cars and home and never filed a claim. Now I read that it is the worst Ins. Co according to this law firm.

you just have to shop
all policies are not equal. I have 2 kids both of whom have totaled vehicles. One a teenage boy. I have to shop yearly, my rates are out of sight even with the lowest companies.

After working in personal injury law firms and also insurance defense (21st Century Ins./now AIG) for many years, I have found the insurance companies that will work with their customers are AAA (CSAA in Calif), and Geico.
They don't fight you tooth and nail if you have a claim and work to settle claims rather than litigate to the bitter end.

I have to agree with you there. My son was in an accident and we were sued since my son was a minor and on our policy. According to CSAA, the person that hit him had a history of these types accidents and filing lawsuits. CSAA faught the case for us and won. I will definitely keep CSAA for my cars and home and their rates are good.

I have Mercury and couldn't be happier. I totaled my car a few months ago and the claim was paid in under 3 weeks. The rates are quite reasonable as well.

Did you get another civic? Hybrid, regular gas or NCG(gx)?

No, since I couldn't get the carpool stickers again I figured there was no point in spending the extra money on another hybrid. Even with all the gas we use, it takes a LOT of driving to make up that extra $7,000. I do miss having them though, they were worth the extra money. I ended up getting a Toyota Matrix and I like it a lot.
