Why does expired visa cancel closing?
TC called at signing and cancelled due to expired visa, borrowers had valid DL and passports. This was a refi.

It has nothing to do with ID requirements. The borrower is from out of the country and because the visa has expired, it may mean the brw is here illegally.

I meant to add
that a visa and a passport are two different things. A Visa is a document whereby a duly authorized government agency gives a citizen of another country permission to enter the country. A passport is issued by a national government, which certifies, for the purpose of international travel, the identity and nationality of the holder of the passport.

You say this was a refi? hmmm Having a valid DL and Passport doesn't mean very much if they are not a US Citizen. It all depends on what type of visa the person had. A new visa may not be granted - which will make them an illegal.

Yes, having a D/L, ss card, & owning property in the US does not make you a citizen. You'd be amazed at how many people live here, borrow money, & set up businesses--and then pack up & leave without paying the debts.
