linear title
We just had to turn down a signing with linear title because of a time conflict. Should we be sad?? What do they pay

I don't ask what they pay, I tell them what I'd do it for.

Not necessarily the best approach. .....
"I don't ask what they pay, I tell them what I'd do it for" By using this method, you are may actually be limiting what you will be paid. If you let the TC/SS quote an price first, you can ask for more or turn them down. If you quote first, you will never know if they were about to offer you more.

I have considered that and it's a very valid point.
However, the fee I give them takes care of my costs and gives me enough profit to make it worthwhile. I'm sure I know the arguments a lot of people would have over my approach, but I don't want to bite the hand that feeds me. As Wade Cook (stock market guru) would say "leave enough for the other person". If the SS can still make some profit, fine, at least I don't have to argue my point ( to get them to come up) by stating fees up front. If it's a Title Co. I don't have to argue at all.
I keep getting pages to my cell from the 'other' site for $65 jobs, I won't touch it for less than $125 so I won't waste the return call. I USED to return the call, but they would always find someone to do it at that price point so I don't bother anymore. The only jobs I'll take for less than my standard fee are those small loan mod docs if they are local.

They pay well and timely. You should be sad.

I agree. They're good. It's sad to turn down good work from tc's, but it happens.
