scan-backs as alternative to fax backs?

I am looking to see what printers\scanners those of you that do scanbacks as a alternative to fax backs. According to my printers manual the scanner only scans 8x11 and so not legal sized. So I am looking for another printer and that can scan 8x14 paper. Anyone have any suggestions?

Be sure and get one that has a sheet feeder. This way you can put the docs on and not have to baby sit.

I have a Brother MFC-3240C

which I bought for $5.00 @ Office Depot in a closeout sale, actually I bought two and it works great for scanning.

I have a Brother MFC 7420. We also use microsoft office imaging. It scans the documents and you can fax them from the computer. After the image is scanned, you can look at it on the pc, then type in the phone number and set the time you want it faxed. You can also complete the cover sheet from your computer. If the fax does not go through, you can resend the document from your pc without rescanning. If the doc is too large to go through the adf, or if a page is missing, you can insert pages in the file before you send it. Its pretty neat for those CW faxbacks.

I'm using a Brother MFC-8440,

But you have to go into your scanner utility and change the setting to legal on Windows XP or Vista, because the programs don't recognize the Brother settings even though you have changed them to legal size. I spent hours trying to figure that one out and finally got a tech at Microsoft on the phone to tell me how to fix the problem.

Brother MFC-8460N -- I'm jealous!

Been eyeing that model for a while now. Settled on Brother MFC-7840W instead. No dual tray, but my HL5040 does have dual, so I'm good there. Up & running on wireless network is good!

Melissa she is worth every penny...but something I had to buy on credit.
But, she is a money-maker, and they do sell replacement toner for refilling now.
