The purge ... again
About a year and a half ago I upgraded to premier member from basic. I had to do it because of the huge number of people on the basic list - I was lost in the shuffle. If the basic list were purged as we were told it would be, I wouldn't have to pay for premier because I'd be high enough on the basic list. I wonder if my rambling mind is onto something here. By the way, I'm not just talking about people who haven't updated in 6 months like we were informed (although there are many of those also), I'm talking about no updates since 2006 for basic members.
Not my call how anyone runs their own business but we were told the lists would be purged - and then no follow through.

I wish they would purge, also. Get rid of the dead-weight. Because so many have left the field, and there is a limit on searches, from what I have heard it is becoming somewhat difficult to locate a working NSA from this AND some other sites.

The last purge created a large reduction for my zip
But, if you were to do a fifty mile search, only the first 25 basic members are shown - and over half of them are in Missouri (most are not also commissioned in Kansas). That is part of why several companies have found me on other web site searches.

Quick Update - PURGE and SEARCH LIMITS
Quick Update - PURGE and SEARCH LIMITS Posted by Harry [NR] of IA on 2/18/08 11:58pm Msg #60 This message was posted to the Notary Talk "Discuss Work" Forum as Msg #235950
Purge =============== I haven't read all of the prior threads, but Traci and Grif passed along the message. It is true that I never completed the purge process I began in the last half of 2007. That process involved the sending of between 15,000 and 20,000 e-mails, faxes and voicemails to stale accounts. The next stage, before the final purge, was to send letters. I kept putting that off due to the expense. Because we only received a response rate of about 8%, I wanted to give it some more time before actually having to PAY for a $6000 mailing. The fact that people (Basic Members, primarily) are either a) Too lazy to update their profiles, or b) Too forgetful, comes at the expense of ALL other members, as well as corporate users, and we would have really preferred to put that money to use in another way.
Here is the compromise... I just "hid" over 12,000 stale signing agent profiles. "Stale" is defined as a) No profile update in the last 6 months and b) No login in the past 3 months. Premier Members were exempt from this action. The up-side is that it undoubtedly disabled a huge number of bad accounts. The down-side is that it also disabled a huge number of legitimate/current accounts. We will be sending instructions to affected users explaining how to unhide their profiles. Those that remain hidden several months from now will, in fact, be purged. If your account was affected by this action, simply sign-on, click My Profile, uncheck the box beside "Hide my profile from searches," and click Update.
Search Limits =============== In response to the recent thread regarding search limits... While I think some of you covered it in your responses, it bears repeating: we have the capability to either remove the limits OR significantly increase them for appropriately-privileged accounts. If a title company or signing service is using our site and they are not coded as such, all they need to do is ask, and we will convert their account. The search limits are in place to help mitigate various forms of abuse, including the pilfering of Notary Rotary member data. This is an ongoing problem with a) Certain competitors, b) Notary members or prior members who have been working to establish competing services, and c) Signing services who seem to think they should be able to load our entire database into their own. (Some of whom, I believe, have gone on to sell their databases to other companies.) If you've received junk e-mail from some notary site claiming to be the next great thing, there's a great chance they got your e-mail address from us or 123.
