Abusive SS's

I have accepted an O/N package and then they send more edocs to be included in the o/n package without any additional compensation, I will do it just because I really care about the borrower otherwise I will call and cancel them. The edocs are not that large but their fee is not large either!!

I just got a 40 page ORDER. I don't have to print it, but I still have to read it--just in case there's something unique about it. Just about 1 instructional doc for every doc that needs a signature. Bleaugh....

Cal, the SS will keep as much $ as possible and your first mistake was to accept the low fee. Your second mistake would be to not charge for the added docs since the first low ball fee did not include edocs. If you want your business to take care of you, then you must take care of your business. Abusive? Only if you allow it.

I am doing this one on my base fee which is higher than normal notaries in my area but when I accepted the signing they never told me anything about the extra edocs and now that the package is in my hands they change the whole enchilada. I am not going to cancel a signing that I have docs in my possession, not fair for the borrower. I have to stop typing and go to my signing. Ciao!!

Cal, sorry for your frustration, but I would say that the assignment turned out to other than what was negotiated. I need a new confimation with the new fee, for additional work.

What if you ask if there are any faxbacks and they say no....then come to fnd out there are like 49 pages to fax back. I asked for an additional fee and was told they don't pay extra for faxbacks. Nice!!

Why do you say 'abusive'?

You are the one that didn't charge a high enough fee to begin with. If you charge a high enough all inclusive fee, a few faxed docs, e-mailed docs, fax backs, phone call to the LO, etc., don't matter. As for "I really care about the borrower", that's about the dumbest 'business' decision you can make. Care about your bottom line. Care about the entity that pays you. Charge enough and you will never make a complaint like this again.

Re: Why do you say 'abusive'?

A very nice ServiceLink scheduler called me Monday at 9:14 AM for a 10:00 AM signing. I'm thinking 41 faxback pages, and 10 page instructions. Hate to say no; but did.

Why?

You said no without quoting a fee of $150 or more depending on the location? All they could have said was no. At $150, if you have the proper equipment, a 41 page fax back and 10 pages of instructions (if you know what you're doing they should take VERY little time to skim) are minimal. As for the timing, they know it's all but physically impossible so you'd get there when you print and drive.
