Any experience with My Assistant,Inc. - Lakeland FL
Anyone have history with this company. I was told at the time I took assignment that payment would be in 30 days. I did a signing on 1/30/08 and on 3/8/08 e-mailed to see where check was. I got a sarcastic reply that they were waiting for monies since they were getting few closings (not that we aren't) and they would be sending out checks. "I must be in worse shape that they are"
Well - who paid the gas, printed the doc's (toner, paper) & traveled to borrower - ME.
I'm so glad that I was busy and didn't take a second job from them or I could be waiting to be paid for both.
Things are slow - and yes we should be paid according to there word at time of accepting assignments from them - we do our work in a timely manor. This lender had 21 places to notarize and then split the package before sending.

Re: Read this message and click on her name for contact info
I am really surprised at the business sense sometimes shown by other people. I presume that it may be simply a matter of inexperience within the field that allows people to show their professionalism, or lack, thereof!
I am not a signing service and advise of this when I assign closings for my clients. Being a notary myself and having been "stiffed" by others, I would, and have always, paid others before allowing myself a paycheck. In other words, I make sure to issue a check (give or take a day or two -- I mostly cut checks on the weekend) within a thirty day period and advise the notary of this (that will now stop, of course).
However, since I am, as a notary, suffering the same decline in closings as everyone else, the momentary lack of ability to pay out of MY pay may sometimes prohibit me from issuing a check within week three of the closing to assure the notary has the check in her fingers on day 30! So, in this particular case, checks for the end of January through Mid-February, went out this past weekend (Exactly one week late for this particular complaintant).
Actually, although I had absolutely no need to "defend" myself, I also wanted this opportunity to let "newbies" know that receiving payment within the 30-60 day period following your service is not considered a horrible business practice and that if a company does not pay you on the exact 30th day, there should be some type of follow-up without the need to jump to conclusions. Send a letter/email of inquiry or make a phone call and then give them a second chance to make good on payment.
Geez, if I treated the title companies I work for with this kind of brashness, I don't think I could have had the history of earnings in this business that I have had and would have had to leave it a long time ago.
I provide professional closings to my clients and although I don't usually get paid within the 30-60 period, so long as I get paid, I understand that there is absolutely no need to get offensive.
Thank you for your time. Mysti
