Crazy I

I've had a spate of crazy closings and am posting two here. I got to the borrowers' and when the wife presented me with her driver license, the last name was different than on title. I pointed this out. It was her maiden name on the license, she said. How long had she been married, I asked. 9 years. When did you buy the house? Three years ago. Did you present this license as ID when you bought the house? Yes, and the notary said nothing. She also said that she presents that license when she goes to the bank even though her bank account is in her married name, and the tellers have never said anything.

I have had that happen to me and it amazes me how people don't get that they can't pick and choose what name they want to use from one day to the next and the LO are no better they say use the Marriage License as if thats valid ID I always stick to my guns and let them know if they want me to notarize the docs with their Married name they must go and change their Id or the docs have to be drawn with the name thats on the ID with a NKA

I had this happen to me once - I won't name the TC but they told me she could have signed the docs with her maiden name and add her married name to the name affidavit. I told them I can't ID her with her maiden name - her license has her married name and the docs were with her married name.
