Fees
If I notarize a Grant Deed where they need to sign in three places and I'm only notarizing it once is it a $10 charge or a $30 charge?

What does your handbook say? Can you charge
per notarization or per signature you notarize?

You are notarizing *signatures* and not the document. It doesn't matter how many times the client signs. The charge is for YOUR signature and seal so each time YOU sign and place your seal after the notarial verbiage on the document or loose certificate, that's $10.

The fee is $10.00 per person in California, not $10.00 for YOUR Signature and Seal

I should say have $10.00 per person, per document.

Brain scramble
It's $10 per signature per person. Ignore the other post.

Actually Ca Gov't Code Section 8211 governs the fees
charged and in part states the following:
8211. Fees charged by a notary public for the following services shall not exceed the fees prescribed by this section. (a) For taking an acknowledgment or proof of a deed, or other instrument, to include the seal and the writing of the certificate, the sum of ten dollars ($10) for each signature taken.
That is for each signature requried to be notarized. So if a document has two signatures and they both must have a certificate attached you would charge $20.00. If only one signature requires to be notarize you would charge a maximum of $10.00. You may charge less at your discretion!

Replied at the same time with Gov Code. Great minds think alike!

I cut off the part about the oath and jurat!
Sorry, I cut off the oath and Jurat whihc states:
b) For administering an oath or affirmation to one person and executing the jurat, including the seal, the sum of ten dollars ($10).
If you are giving the oath and taking the signatures of two people you may charge the maximum for each one.
