He wouldn't sign - Part 3..
My post on Saturday 3/01/08.. Thanks for all your great replies.. YES I did still have the docs because silly me, I was optimistically waiting to hear from the agency that hired me, or the TC that sent me the docs - of course calls were never forth-coming. (Even thru Today!) ~ I'd just left the docs IN my Notary Bag for the What if scenario - It was over 100 pages and I had a small amt of hope that maybe I wouldnot need to re-print.. Silly Me. The docs are a shredded piece of history now.. since I NEVER got the courtesy of a response from either.. and this company came recommended here on these Boards - I did check lol The borrower confessed to me - after some prodding - that NO he actually never spoke to his LO about going forward with the deal.. He said he called, left a VM, and an email, None were returned.. I guess Sour Grapes since the LO/guy lost his Feb commission.. The reason I didnt outright ASK why the husband & wife have trouble being there at the same time is quite frankly - I get the distinct impression they do not actually LIVE together.. He is approx 70 yrs old, and she is about 35-ish.. and they didnt want to sit anywhere near each other the time I did see them.. UPDATE - this same Signing Co. called me today at 3:55pm ~ asking me to take a deal for the time between 4-7pm.. hows THAT for notice?? I told them NO since I was STILL waiting to hear from them on the job that didnt close LAST week.. The man just said, "Ohh, ok, Well.. bye..." Nice.

Just wondering if you had the shipping label and if so, why you didn't just send the docs back to TC, with your invoice and let them be responsible for shredding.

IF I had a label - which I didnt - I wouldnot incurr them a $30 FedEx fee to send them blank Docs they could not process.. as the title says - he wouldnt sign.. Surely they would try to bill me to send them those blank docs!

Sending blank docs.
I have sent back plenty of blank docs, and never been charged for it. Technically, the docs are theirs, so it is their problem.
If you still liked the signing company, I would have taken the new job, and if the old job needed to sign in a hurry later, that is their problem. You can't be sitting at home twiddling your thumbs while they get their act together. You were free when you originally accepted the signing, but now you are working again. If you have to make two trips to sign two different people, that counts as two separte jobs in my opinion: Trip and sign fee for the husband, trip and sign fee for the wife. The SS charges their client two fees (good for them), and the client charges the borrower. If the borrower does not want to pay for two trips and signings, then they better figure out how to get in the same place at the same time. (Sometimes when I set up the appoinment, and they are being vague about their schedule, I say, "When are you and your wife going to be together at the same time?" Maybe it is at 9:00 at night, but then that's when it is.)
You are doing them a big favor coming to their house during off hours. They could both be having to drive to the Title Company together during business hours, and how inconvienient is that?
