LandAmerica
Has anyone noticed a change in climate at LandAmerica. They were one of my best clients but lately things have been going south.

I know I got a call from them last month wanting me to do a last minute, and I mean LAST-MINUTE (20 minutes notice) 110-page e-doc Countrywide refi package with 30 pages of fax-backs for $60. "Sorry!" *click*
If you do a search you'll find a lot of signing agents complaining about only being paid $60 after negotiating a higher fee. Signing agents are also saying when they call back and say, "Excuse me, I was supposed to be paid XXX dollars" LandAmerica replies by saying, "I'm sorry, there must be some mistake. We only pay $60."
I think they've outsourced their call center too because the man who called me to schedule the appointment spoke pretty bad English and didn't seem to fully comprehend what I was saying. His accent was very thick and I could barely understand him.
Land America? No thanks. *click*

This company has lowered fees and want you to print 2 sets of docs at 141 pages each for 95.00. They don't care how far you have to travel. Again, they are one of the largest co's and one of the cheapest. With c-wide docs now having to print their ads for credit cards, I'm tired of it all. Today will be my last signing for LandAm

What I noticed . . .
Everytime I get a job, eventually a woman with an East Indian accent calls me to see if I got my documents. She never calls me for the appointments, but only for this.
I live in Southern California, and last summer when everything was burning up, she called to see if I got my docs. I said, "Yes, but the town that the borrowers live in is on fire and there are roadblocks, and I cannot get them on the phone. What if their house is burned down?
She said, "But you have the docs right?"
Clueless.
(Their house was fine, the signing went great.)

A bunch of inept pinheads...
This past week I had the ultimate Land America experience. Wed, I get a call for a signing in"A" town on Fri 14th at 1:00pm. They say fee of $85.00 for e-docs. I say gas here is almost $4.00/gallon, my fee is XXX.00. Schedulers says, I will see if I can get it approved and call you back. 20mins later she calls, and says my fee is approved. A couple hours later I go to my computer, and there is no confirmation. I call Land Am, and they have no record of that appt for me. I assume, like other times, they found someone cheaper, and neglected to inform me. Thurs, I get a call from guy with very thick accent from Land Am, asking if I got the docs for my signing on the 14th at 12:00pm. I tell him what happened previous day, and I need to know if it is the same one I accpeted. I ask him what town is it in. He says "E"town. I say what address? He says my address. I say no that is my address. Then he says no it is in "M" town. I say I can't help you, as I was not hired for a job at Noon in "M" town, but I was for 1:00pm in "A"town. He mumbles incoherently, and says someone will contact me. I get home to my computer, and there is a confirmation with my fee for the 14th at Noon, in "A"town. Friday morning at 8:30am I have no docs, so I call L.A. They don't know where docs are. I leave. At 10:30am the guy with the accent calls again, asking if I have the docs. Again I say no. I get home, no docs, I call again. I ask the scheduler why does that man with the accent keep calling me about docs I don't have? She said something like "they don't know what they are doing" 11:30am Friday, I get a call from a woman, asking if I have docs. I say no. She says did you check the swiftsend website. I say no, I'll do that now. No Docs there. Now what do you suggest? She takes about 5 minutes, and finally realizes that the docs were sent to an incomplete version of my e-mail address. She send the docs, and I get to my appt at 12:05pm. Fun times...

Re: A bunch of inept pinheads...
Great experience today with LandAm. Did a closing for them with 141 pgs of docs. Their printing instructions all totally different. Enclosed in the package was a copy of the BR's 2006 income tax. Br was furious. Also included was 6 pages of applications to fill out for a C'Wide credit card. C'mon now. Am I supposed to print out their ad also? As I said a couple of days ago, this is the last time for LandAm. God, some of these people depress me.

Yes...good times indeed, JinCA
Back in the day I did a lot of work for LA. I was their go-to gal in my area. Good fees...no faxing back. Ah...those were the days.
Then one day I get a package and there are 52 pages to fax back. I did it but the next time I tried to negotiate another $25 for the faxing and they said no...I said no...they call all the time now but there's no need to discuss. I am done with LA.

Re: Yes...good times indeed, JinCA
I've had mixed reviews with them in my own personal experience. I will do them, in town only for a fair fee. They have paid quickly & I've not had to beg for $$. Either they've met my fee or not. Crossed fingers here, but it may depend on where you are & who you get to deal with. The followup calls are annoying to say the least.
