New here and have question on fees
Hello everyone, I am in the process of becoming a notary and wanted to know how do you determine fees? There are a couple ways of figuring but wanted a concensus, I am planning on being a mobile notary and wanted a good formula for figuring fees.

You determine notary fees based on your state's allowable fees. As for doing mobile notary work you have to determine your own travel fees.

Hi Sylvia, welcome to the word of mobile notary work. The Nat'l Notary Association makes this suggestion.
Certified Signing Agent Minimum Fees First set of loan documents $65 Second set of loan documents $35 E-mailed loan documents $85 Cancellation (two hours or less) $35
Noncertified Signing Agent Minimum Fees First set of loan documents $50 Second set of loan documents $25 E-mailed loan documents $75 Cancellation (two hours or less) $25
hope this helps

RE: MARTA: New here and have question on fees
first of all you own your business, NOT the NNA. their fees are ridiculous and they pander to the low ballers and non payers. I certainly hope you do not subscribe to their pricing for what YOU charge for YOUR business.
NO ONE posts their fees as everyone has different expenses and etc as to how they factor what he/she charges for a signing. The only thing that is a given is what your state fee is for general notary work not including travel.
jmo............of course

Marta I have been in the business for many years. Was not me who asked the question. And the question was about the fees for mobile notary work, nothing about signing agent fees.
The NNA suggested fees are ludricous.

Re: I got the biggest chuckle out of this one Sylvia. Did you
Sure I learned that some people don't read the posts before responding And they have obviously not been in the business long enough, or know enough, to command decent fees And they obviously have grit in their eyes when it comes to the NNA

Corine, You could only hope that someday you will know
1/3 of what Sylvia does. And, she didn't learn it from NNA. That's lesson #1.

Sylvia owns a signing service and knows more about notary and notary signing work than you could propably ever hope to learn espacially pimping the NNA as you are.

This a phrase used by very old Spanish speaking persons. My parents used to use it very often My mom is more than 85 years.

Marta, please tell me that you do at least 100 signings a month. Those fees don't even cover the gas, paper, office supplies, experience etc. Let alone if the mobile notary business is your only source of income.....................

Dearest Marta - I am NOT certified. Yesterday I completed 4 orders. 3 were e-docs - $175, $150, $120. The other order borrowers had 3 docs (this was a correction to another loan I had previously completed a week or so ago) and I received $75.
Read AND THINK about those fees you posted. Although no one collects on a cancellation 2 hours or less, why should someone receive less $$$ for that just because they're not certified? The cost of the e-docs should be the same, certified or not. I'm not even getting into the fact that so many "certified signing agents" appear on this board weekly with NO idea what they're doing and many who aren't certified have been in this business for decades and know exactly what our job and our place in the process is.
Remember Marta, we're not in CA where the NNA hails from. They seem, with their over abundance of 'signing agents' and their funky escrow officers, work an entirely different way than those of us here in PA do.

Well, gee... according to that organization
If you're certifed, you should only get $20 more for edocs; whereas, uncertified can command $25 additional for same work. Kinda makes you wonder how much thought, if any, was put into this. Notary Nonsense A~~~~
