Richmond Title

Hello all I have worked with Richmond Title several time in the last few years never had a problem. However I did a signing for them on 1/14 after waiting 45 days I called to check the status and I was told the check was sent on 2/28. I waited another week and called to say I never rec. the check. I was told I had to wait 30days from the time they mailed out the check for them to do a stop payment. Today I turned down a signing with them because I have a bad tast in my mouth from Express Financial they owed me XXXX when they closed. I hate turning down work but I feel it's better to be safe than sorry anyone else having an issue

I have done business with Richmond Title for years as well. I have never ever had an issue with payment. I would not turn down any business from them at this time. This is just my opinion, but if it is only one payment, and the 30 day rule is pretty standard from any company that I have ever dealt with.

Hey Phillip, I think you need to read the post again. Two weeks after the check was supposedly sent, it still hasn't arrived. If it has not been delivered by that time, it ain't coming. It's a good time to stop payment and issue a new check. A 30 days' waiting period is like holding the barn door open so the horse can get out.

I am not saying that Richmond Title is not being truthful, just that they may want to reexamine their stop payment policy.

Sounds like a stall tactic. I don't believe they mailed a check. They can easily call their bank to see if the check was cashed and reissue another one.

<<<Today I turned down a signing with them because I have a bad tast in my mouth from Express Financial they owed me XXXX when they closed.....>

IMHO, that was a wise thing to do. You have to go with not only with your instincts but past experience and you said <<they owed me XXXX when they closed>>.

<<<I hate turning down work but I feel it's better to be safe than sorry...>>>

That's called working "smart".

I did my first ever for Richmond Title a month ago - it's been exactly 30 days and no check has arrived. I'm going to give it a little longer at this point but I'm keeping my eye on them.

There is a search feature at sourceoftitle.com in the forums section. If you don't see enough information on the orangutan search button here, maybe you'll want to check and see if they are paying the abstracors they contract with. If one segment of contractors is not getting compensated then, chances are, the rest are not either. This company was added to our pay no mind list just about a year ago.

Pat I took your advice and looked on some other boards and you were right. There were 4 posts this month from other notaries fighting to get paid. They also state Richmond sent a letter stating they were having problems and they were doing there best to work on them. Funny they didn't mention that today when they called me for a new job lol. I'm so glad I've learned to heed my grandmothers advice If it quaks like a Duck it's a duck

Thanks

Re: IMHO your instincts are right....i have been waiting......

I had a payment issue with them about 3 years ago....and have never accepted another order. If my memory is correct...I did not receive payment for well over 100 days....and I had to call and call some more and fax several invoices.

Re: IMHO your instincts are right....i have been waiting....

I did a closing for them the first part of February and got paid about 40 days out. I went to the person who hired me and asked when I might receive payment. She told me they pay in 30 days - when I didn't get the check in 30 days, I emailed her again (I do this so I have documentation re "conversations"Wink and she stated that the check had been written but didn't know if it was going out that day (Friday) or Monday. I received it on Thursday.
