So much for profit!
I had a closing this evening in the sticks and on my way home at 9:30pm (after getting lost and going about 8 miles out of the way) my mind was off in left field wondering how in the heck did I get backwards on my way out. I was caught (74mph) in a speed trap on a highway that would appear to be 65mph because it comes off of a 65mph four-lane that I live next to. For one split second (in the dark) I thought about outrunning the cop (Notary rage?) but sanity took over. Just blew my clean record and voided any profit from the closing. Rats!

Accept My Condolences
I really am sorry about the ticket, Snoop. I guess it is EOM for police officers too because here in my territory they were everywhere tonight. Like you, I haven't had a ticket since....1987 and my car insurance premium is at an all time low. I would cry like a baby if I got a ticket now. Can you fight it or go to traffic court? It may be worth it in the end.

Re: Accept My Condolences
I often think about how many tickets I coulda/shoulda got. I set my cruise on the interstates, so that's not a problem. Its the 2 lane off roads that are going to get me one of these days. Sometimes its so lonely out on the back roads, how can anyone help from going too fast. Sorry about yours. Its bound to get all of us at one tme or another.

I use a radar detector and its paid for itself several times
over. Ca has a limit of 70mph on highways designed for 85 (before the gas crises it was 85) and my Beltronics has more than covered its cost.

Use Ticket Clinic. Or whatever they are called in your area. Not proud to say but my son has them on speed dial . You pay a flat fee, they show up in court and no points. Your insurance company isn't advised either. Just a thought. Be safe speedy.

What is "Ticket Clinic"? Fake lawyers? Real lawyers? In PA, no one can represent you in court except yourself or a lawyer . That said, how can they guarantee no points if you're guilty?

There are ways
A friend of my son has had numerous tickets and gotten out of most of them! He is studying to be a lawyer. He postpones as much as he can and if the cop doesn't show when the court day finally comes, the ticket is dropped. He has to pay the ticket ahead of time, but gets the money back... Of course he never bothers to slow down.

Back Roads
Linda you are so right about the back roads! Where I live one of those two-laned "highways" has speed limits that change every ten miles or so. It's hard for me to keep up with signs. In December I was on that road driving out of town for the Holidays. I kept my car signs on my vehicle and I think it saved me. A cop on a motorcycle pulled up alongside of me and signaled for me to slow down and then he flashed me a 5-5 sign with his hand, indicating the speed limit was 55 and I was going 70. I could be wrong but I think he assumed this notary public was "on company business". Whew! That was a close one.

You and me both!!!!!!!
I got popped last night- 1st ticket in 14 years!!!!! I am so PO'ed about it.....I am fighting it. It was an area that was 25mph and then no signs- you leave the village limits- and I was doing 40mph and the Cop said that is was 35mph and I was doing 43mph. Gave it to me for 5 over....and I am fighting it b/c after the 25mph ends there is NO sign posted for 3/4 of a mile then that says the speed limit is 45mph. All the while I was late for a signing....but went back afterwards to verify my information that I knew there was NO SIGN POSTED!!!!
I am confident that I will win...probably loose out on a job during the court appointment!!!! Sometimes $hit just happens- to the best of us!!!!!

another intangible to be added into our fees - unfortunately being no teh road as much as we are, we've certainly got a more than normal chance at some type driving infraction.

In Michigan they will forgive points too- if you fight it and usually just make you pay the fine. That is something new....I got a few tickets when I was young....and they did not have then....but they have that now. They really just need the money- our Police forces State and Local have been cut with MI's bad economy...and the fact that our State government cant retain and grow new business. Lots of stip malls popping up- anyone need to make $8.00 per hour....that is really going to help the economy...and give people a middle class lifestyle!!!! (joking of course)

I am guilty (no contest) for speeding and will pay the fine but they have a course here in Miss. called a dummy course that one can attend and the ticket will not be reflected on ones insurance. You can do this only for the 1st ticket. I talked with someone this morning and discovered that in MS. the speed is 70 on interstate, 65 on 4 lanes and 55 on two lanes. Black and white, no gray area, no toggling back and forth with speed zones except for schools, etc.

http://www.ticketclinic.com/ may be Florida only. May explain why our insurance rates are so high too. Let those looney drivers off no matter what they do. No DUI's are forgivable to my knowledge. I don't agree. The 2 tickets I have had in my 30 years of driving were both setteled by driving school for 8 hours and still had to pay the ticket. Things have changed alot.

**called a dummy course**
That must be what Texans refer to as "Defensive Driving."
If you take it without a ticket you get 10% off of your insurance.
You have to take it annually and you know how that works out...more than 10% to take the class...so you wait til you get a ticket, take the course, get out of the ticket, AND get 10% off of your insurance. More bangee for the buckee once you need it for a ticket.

Brenda, my insurance is so low with Liberty Mutual I doubt they would budge 1%. Geico cannot even touch my rate. And by the way, Brenda, I have the most interesting book (since you seem to be interested in healthy eating ) called Nourishing Traditions by Sally Fallon. It is called the Cookbook that Challenges Politically Correct Nutrition and the Diet Dictocrats. It will blow you away as she throws down the gauntlet to challenge the "Diet Dictocrats". I am a health food nut and thought I knew it all until I read this book. It is a MUST to read for anyone serious about what you eat and what I call preventative medicine because of what we eat. I know this is off topic but how we eat affects how we work. Just taking care of the NotRot team here!

Thanks for the info, Snoop.
I have come to be pretty critical in my thinking about health. I have become aware of the foolishness of fast food diets, that "good" fats are not the enemy especially when not combined with starch/sugar; and, I have become aware of the foolishness of eating refined sugar while flooding your body for so many years with sugar and starches that your metabolism cannot regulate its fat stores as well. (That's a layman's way of saying it.)
I'm also clear that the AMA doesn't support vitamin/nutrient supplements. I have cleared up skin problems (and body fat problems) by going against their grain and taking vitamins and other nutrients to feel that great feeling of wellbeing and optimism rather than foggy thinking, etc.
For years I suffered with powerful respiratory allergies. I moved away from the mold and mildew of the coast and I am so much healthier just by that fact that I haven't seen an antibiotic in years. Much of the little things I have changed are cheap. However, had I gone to a doctor rather than changing environment and diet I would probably be on nine kinds of meds and still feel like crap.
When we subject our bodies to poisons (like refined sugar) we set ourselves up for feeling bad as we get older. Too many pasta dishes = too much sugar in our diet also.
Thanks. I'll be looking for Fallon's book.
