Witness?

This is the FIRST time I've seen this: The page has a signature line for the borrower and then an affirmation statement and signature line for a witness.

At the bottom underneath the line where I notarize, it is typed, "Notary Public and Witness." So does this mean that me AND the witness are BOTH supposed to sign it here. (There is only ONE line). Or, did it simply mean that I ONLY was supposed to sign it there?

Thank you.

It's indicating the you are both a witness and the notary, only you sign on the line.

It sounds like they are asking you to sign as a witness and then notarize your own signature (a no no here in Florida); if the witness signature line is within the notary block.

I've done a lot of those acknowledgements, The signature line is merely stating that you are the notary and a witness to the signing. The other witness is signing either beside the borrower's signature or underneath the borrower's signature.

Usually there is a statement "witness the hand of the undersigned" or something along those lines right above where they sign. I sometimes will have to drawl a line, sign and print under that my name-witness. Totally seperate from the notary section. If this help's at all.
